What process are the overworked people at LA IMC using to hide and delete stuff?
Hidden Status ? Delete?
There has been an issue with me for some time and I have crystalized a few concerns regarding IMC security.
What event sequence initiates -hidden status/ delete- ?
In my opinion, some threads get hidden for unreasonable well, reasons.
Yes, I know we are whipping the IMC LA staff, free of charge, to be perfect and godlike in their selection process to suit all of our [ personal or corporate] needs; from the good bad and ugly readers and participants. But They have this :
Principles of Unity 1. We strive to provide an information infrastructure for people and opinions who do not have access to the airwaves, tools and resources of corporate media. This includes audio, video, photography, internet distribution and any other communication medium.
2. We support local, regional and global struggles against exploitation and oppression.
3. We function as a non-commercial, non-corporate, anti-capitalist collective. So that really means at least to me, is that all are encouraged, among other things, to participate in providing sourced or be prepared to provide sourced information relevant in deconstructing the lies that promote the exploitation and oppression that the ‘corporate and capitalist’ meddling which I believe is common criminality, brings into our lives. So now back to procedure.
Earlier johnk mentioned my suggestion about tagging the hidden status with the violation. Maybe the guidelines should be reviewed also. That could help the QC by providing feedback. It could also help flag errors. Thank you.

it simply counts all the js button presses for each thread - the beginning of a new database is at hand
and no sheepdog - they're not going for your chemtrail pictures no matter how much you whine about it
the stunts you've been pulling like bald face lying, refusing to read links then blaming it on the messenger while never providing any of your own, and spamming the flake crap as other handles all the while lying about your website
prove yourself
post something real
your picture, pictures of your house/yard
actual contact info
show us you're not totally paranoid for NO REASON
you're little better than fresca..
you shouldn't even have started this thread - it's about nothing newsworthy - just your affliction again

I was surfing around and these came up - you wanted more current data on the Iran nuke question, so since I was speed reading them anyway I pasted them -
Tehran promised a “crushing response” to any US or Israeli attack
Attacking Iran could also tip the scales towards a new geopolitical balance, one in which the US finds itself shut out by Russia, China, Iran, Muslim countries and the many others Bush has managed to offend during his period in office. Just last month, Russia snubbed Washington by announcing it would go ahead and honor a $700 million contract to arm Iran with surface-to-air missiles, slated to guard Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Russia and China have developed strong ties recently, both with each other and with Iran. Each possesses nuclear weapons.

Russia Warns U.S. Against Striking Iran
February 20, 2006
AP
Russia's top military chief on Thursday warned the United States against launching a military strike against Iran
"A military scenario can't be ruled out," Baluyevsky was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.
"We are counting on the continuation of close contacts with our Chinese colleagues and other interested countries," Alekseyev was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.
"Taking into account the good relations between Russia and Iran, I hope that together we can overcome this crisis which has arisen recently," Gholamreza Ansari said at a meeting with Russian lawmakers.

The muckometer just tallies up scores on each post and creates a total. An article gets a score of -1 if someone clicks on the 'report troll post' link.
It's just there so you can say "oh sheeit, there's a lot of muck on this thread" and shake your head.

The comments about hiding certain posts ( off topic ) in this thread: http://la.indymedia.org/news/2007/05/198569_comment.php#199172 One can always complain about the editorial functions but if one were to actually use the report buttons available, like reporting a mistake on one's on miss-formatted thread, instead of merely complaining about the lack of editorial oversight, it would make more sense. Even if the individual is of the opinion that the report button system "sucks". Just my humble opinion.

have entered 'double post' http://la.indymedia.org/news/2007/05/198569_comment.php#199171 That's all I or anyone can do. Then wait for the editorial scupper. Sometimes it takes awhile.

It's been six days since [double post] was first entered. In the meantime, other comments in the thread have been hidden, but not this one. What's up with that? Could it be that the [double post] button is not working? Would entering [off topic] or [hate/insult] work?

I don't get it, either. Technically speaking, it was a double post and I like to accurately flag these things. I used four points to delete that comment. And, you're welcome.

Glancing on the hidden zone, I see that there is questionable oversight involved in confirming deleted posts. johnk, were you serious about totally automating this process? Think about the parameters first, please. The enemy will exploit any windows of vulnerability to gain control ( as we can see already) of the hiding process by producing 'hide' posts which gain report credits. I was surprised that this was so straight forward, w/o certain processes like review or cancelation of the interference with the latest comment page like, removing author and placement. Particularly with the spam and porn'bot assault going on and apparently intensifying. Some of these obviously noise posts are here to jam pertinent posts down down down. 'reason for hiding' Did you at one time ( I've archived the comment ) say you were going to install this feature? Maybe there could be a reader review process to *unhide* posts that (ahem ) are hidden for purposes of the enemy. Transparency is important, as you say, yourself.
Just noticing a few commonalities that could be used to bounce this crap.

I've noticed another change in the peer review process. Now there is no ID number and the amount of add/porn spam has been cut. Among other not mentioned changes to access the comments. Any information?
