Following the 4 way checkpoint on May 3, 2008 nearby a Cinco de Mayo festival thrown by the city of Pomona, City Council members and community members alike were outraged at the overtly racist and illegal checkpoint targeting the Latino community event. Since that day a coalition was formed called the "Pomona Habla Coalition" which looks into the legality of said checkpoints and attempts to hold the Pomona Police Department accountable for any violations of the grant agreements per the Office of Traffic Safety.

My boyfriend was protesting a Pomona checkpoint with Frente Contra las Redadas but he was alone. The cop called him over and when he put his sign down on the ground the cop gave him a ticket for littering. We are going to court about it.

Drunk drivers need to be dragged off, given fair trials right then and there, and need to be executed. Why anyone would want to pretend that screening for an arresting drunk drivers is some how race hate is insane.

... these so-called "DUI checkpoints" occur intraditionally oppressed ethnic minority enclaves, or occur during traditional ethnic minority holidays--Cinco de Mayo, as in the Pomona case.

When was the last time the cops decided to set set up a roadblock on Robertson during Rosh Hashanah or Chanukkah ??? SOMEONE has GOT to be downing all that fine Manischewitz then getting behind the wheel, dont'cha think ???
