the Pixel Crash:

"Half in, half out… can I get a damage report? Let’s see… the plane appears to be fine – same goes for the tower. Notice how there’s no hole in the tower between the engines and the fuselage. This picture is representative of a pixel crash, not a plane crash...."

US F-16s unleash "shock and awe" against the people of South Jersey:

(if true, just another day of carefully managed terror engineered by the Bush Dictatorship.)

WTC cancer cluster 'like Hiroshima':

Microsoft hints at general plan for IE8:

(note the words: "hints" and "general plan". the headline is going out of its way to make sure that we don't think that IE 8 is a HUGE release.

I think IE8 will be spying on every mouseclick we make, with direct feeds to NSA/CIA/FBI/Homeland Security.)

Microsoft/CIA and Yahoo/CIA are discussing a merger:

(one might ask: aren't they already a single entity? After all, if you try to access with a version of internet explorer that is before 6.0 Yahoo won't let you in.

maybe after this merger we won't be able to access Yahoo's site at all unless we're using internet explorer. (This is how Microsoft handles its site. You can't access a lot of important pages unless you're doing so with IE.

Folks: Microsoft + Yahoo = End of the Internet's anonymity. the government will have the ability to spy on everyone who uses the Web.)

Dictatorship by superhighway. why didn't Hitler think of doing this to Europe, instead of bombing everything?

Bush regime building NAFTA superhighway, turning entire US into a large New Jersey:

Ghouliani, direct accomplice to the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11, linked to "superhighways":

(they're trying to build another superhighway that runs north and south, from Mexico to Canada.

they're turning the entire US into a New Jersey. New Jersey's Turnpike is a collosal prison, a catastrophe from the perspective of public mental health.)

********GENERAL NEWS********

Our oceans are turning into plastic...are we?

US for-profit health care system expensive and inefficient:

"...Germany, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada all provide better care for less money..."

Wall Street Journal, Historic shift laid out in deal on immigration:

400 million people live in "minefields":

(...thanks to the US military. btw, why does the world still need militaries? why do we need to spend 0 billion a year (+) when there's no other country out there capable of threatening us?

the cancer of militarism includes minefields everywhere, Depleted Uranium everywhere. the cancer is killing off its host.)

Israel decides to commit more war crimes against the largely defenseless population being imprisoned in Gaza:

Netanyahu calls for cutting water and electricity supplies to illegally-occupied Gaza:

(what's more barbaric than collective punishment on the scale that is being inflicted upon Gaza residents? Let's not forget that Israel has illegally occupied Gaza since 1967.)

Inhabitants of unlawfully occupied Gaza teetering on the brink of chaos

Israel launches criminal raids into Gaza:

(...after the Mossad/MI-6/CIA likely initiated the escalation by firing off rockets on behalf of "Hezbollah"...)

Bush Dictatorship's government in Iraq moving to curb independent news media:

The US war and occupation of Iraq--the murder of a society, Part one

Iraq's universities near collapse:

Iraqi infant mortality soars by 150 percent--a damning revelation of US war crimes

US attacks Iraqi school; kills innocent children; BBC calls the vicims "insurgents" so everything is OK:

Infant mortality in Iraq soars as young pay the price for war

******HEALTH, SCIENCE and LIVING******

"Saturn's Hyperion: a moon with odd craters":

(APOD's illustration at the link above is so utterly ludicrous it makes me cry with laughter. doesn't NASA have any quality control regading the fake images it produces of the "Cassini probe of Saturn"?)

Clean energy claim: aluminum in car tanks:

(this whole business of looking at hydrogen to fuel cars is an operation coming from the CIA. we've already got the technology for electric cars; hydrogen cars are at least a decade away.

it flabbergasts me that there would be people willing to be paid to trick the public into falling for the hydrogen red herring.

Meanwhile, How many GM executives does it take to turn on an electric car?)

High number of Moms admit pot use:

Does Pot cure cancer?

Cannabis compound slows lung cancer in mice:

Study finds no cancer-marijuana connection:

"The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer..."

(folks, let's all cure cancer by smoking some pot now.)

Federer defeats Nadal in the Hamburg final!

(Roger snaps Nadal's incomparable 81 match streak on clay. in addition, Roger has now become a contender again at the French Open, which is starting very shortly.

the score was 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. Nadal was visibly fatigued. Federer must have been amazing to watch starting in the second set. you don't bagel Nadal, even a tired Nadal, unless you're totally on fire.

this is amazing accomplishment. Federer made a tough decision to dump Tony Roche, now he's even won a clay court against Nadal. that makes this year's French Open, with the possibility of Federer continuing with his Grand Slam quest, unbelievably exciting.)

this year's French Open is a landmark for sports. this is one of those moments that sports fans will remember for years afterwards.

Now that Roger Federer has won Hamburg--bagelling the greatest clay courter of this time along the way--he has served notice that he's a serious contender for the French.

This is no "clown era". Nadal is the two-time defending champion. Nadal is also five years younger than Roger, which is a significant advantage. The later rounds of the tournament get very grueling; youth is served as a rule.

Meanwhile, if Federer wins the French he's halfway to a Grand Slam. In today's tennis, that is an extraordinary feat. it will be one of the greatest years any athlete has had in sports.)

Force of Evil (1948):

(Force of Evil, made during a time when the public knew generally what was going on, cannot be appreciated by too many people of this time. The little anti-capitalist jokes that go on will be missed by the generation which is actually capitivated by Seinfeld or Friends.

It is a very curious film. Soon-to-be-Blacklisted Abraham Polonsky doesn't have that strong of an artistic vision, relative to the rest of Hollywood. There a lot of better directed noirs.

However, Polonsky's grim writing does tend to make Force of Evil enjoyable. John Garfield is also very good as the corrupt lawyer who is loyal to his brother. Garfield was a tragic loss; he was solid.

I recommend Force of Evil, but there are better films to help sell film noir with.

btw, isn't it amazing that a group of people would conspire to remove Abraham Polonsky from the culture because of his anti-capitalist views? How do human beings descend into barbarism by preventing artists from creating?
