On Friday 16th April there will be a screening of the documentary The Miami Model. Produced by the FTAA Indymedia Video Collective, it is an exploration of the extreme police brutality that took place against activists opposing the FTAA and NAFTA in Miami last November.

The Miami Model
by the FTAA Indymedia Video Collective
90 minutes, Digital Video, 2004
On November 19-21, 2003, trade ministers from 34 countries met in Miami to advance the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), an agreement that threatens to expand corporate power across the hemisphere. FTAA, described as 'NAFTA on steroids,' would devastate environmental protections, labor rights, indigenous peoples, and public services including health, education, water, and energy, and would crush cultural sovereignty and communication rights throughout the Americas. Thousands of union members, environmentalists, feminists, anarchists, students, farm workers, consumer advocates, media democracy activists and human rights groups gathered in Miami to voice our opposition to the FTAA.
We were met with brutal paramilitary repression: rubber bullets, pepper spray, tasers and shock batons, embedded reporters and sophisticated information warfare, all funded by $8.5 Million from the $87 Billion Iraq war budget and coordinated by the Department of Homeland Security.
The FTAA Indymedia Video Collective shot over a hundred hours of footage in Miami. We are proud to present a special advance screening of our collaborative documentary: The Miami Model.
Join us! Free! Friday 16th, 3pm Annenberg School of Communication, USC Room 207.

"We were met with brutal paramilitary repression: rubber bullets, pepper spray, tasers and shock batons, embedded reporters and sophisticated information warfare,"
Embedded Reporters? Sophisticated Info Warfare? Pepper Spray?
These are the examples of the "brutal paramilitary repression" you fools were up against.
Pathetic.
Let me hip you to something, if this is all it takes for you to start yelling "brutal reppression", you're silly little revolution is doomed from the beginning.

The paintballs are filled with pepper spray juice.
They want to deliver pepper spray at a distance.

They said "brutal," not "lethal." I think it qualifies. By the way, if I called you a pathetic nincompoop, would anyone benefit? Leave that kind of shit at the door, would you?

were you there fresca? did you see people being shot at point blank range with rubber bullets, screaming with open head wounds? the police, as brutal as they were showed some restraint for as many as there were. you dont find it a little wierd that you cant tell the difference between the 'police' and any other paramilitary squad? do you understand what kind of effects that the chemical weapons that the security forces in miami have on humans? this is just a taste of whats to come, and i for one realize that at these summits the rebel alliance does not have the numbers, trust, coordination, and resources to actively defend ourselves from the goons of capital. in miami, alot could have been avoided by certain groups if concensus that had been made been followed through but i cant tell you why that didnt happen. besides, i think that most people realize that if there ever was some sort of breakdown in the social order that there would be a military occupation that we- the citizens- would have to defend ourselves against. i hope that you empower yourself and others to take whatever steps you feel is necessary to do this. thanks

These malcontents who make up less than 0.00000000001% of the population are a pain in the ass for the rest of us.
If you're going to set cars on fire and throw things, you've given up your right to free specch and you will be beaten and whipped publicly with the full approval of the American people.

Their brush offs never address anything. I´ve read this site somewhat consistently over the past four months and still don´t understand why lefties and anarchists feel it is their moral obligation to challenge trolls. Just let them post their rants and ignore them. Don´t let them distract those of us who want to use this website to accomplish something.
