On Friday 16th April there will be a screening of the documentary The Miami Model. Produced by the FTAA Indymedia Video Collective, it is an exploration of the extreme police brutality that took place against activists opposing the FTAA and NAFTA in Miami last November.

On November 19-21, 2003, trade ministers from 34 countries met in Miami to advance the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), an agreement
that threatens to expand corporate power across the hemisphere. FTAA, described as 'NAFTA on steroids,' would devastate environmental protections, labor rights, indigenous peoples, and public services
including health, education, water, and energy, and would crush cultural sovereignty and communication rights throughout the Americas. Thousands
of union members, environmentalists, feminists, anarchists, students, farm workers, consumer advocates, media democracy activists and human
rights groups gathered in Miami to voice our opposition to the FTAA.
We were met with brutal paramilitary repression: rubber bullets, pepper spray, tasers and shock batons, embedded reporters and sophisticated
information warfare, all funded by $8.5 Million from the $87 Billion Iraq war budget and coordinated by the Department of Homeland Security.
The FTAA Indymedia Video Collective shot over a hundred hours of footage in Miami. We are proud to present a special advance screening of our
collaborative documentary: The Miami Model.
