In Los Angeles and accross the Nation, many tens-of-thousands of people saw Kucinich banners hanging on overpasses and in public places on Saturday February 7th. Kucinich volunteers took to the overpasses and other public places to get out Kucinich's message. When asked about reasons they are out on the street supporting
Kucinich, volunteers refer to Kucinich's plan to get out of Iraq in 90 days, support of single-payer health care and spending more money on domestic needs rather than on military along with other important issues.

Santa Monica, California
"Kucitizens hung banners throughout
the city over the weeking in a variety of places..." - Santa
Monica Daily News, Feb 8th.
It was great to drive through Santa Monica and see
Kucinich banner after banner!! Some of us went directly to designated
overpasses or public locations and many of us met at a pick-up location
to get banners and directions. Approximately 15 banners were displayed
with about 36 volunteers. This doesn't include volunteers that participated
in other surrounding areas including Encino, Alhambra, and Thousand
Oaks. If Dennis Kucinich wasn't running, I wouldn't be out here campaigning
for any of the candidates. Others are welcome to join in our upcomming
banner events, visit www.sfv4dennis.org/banners

Zack and I held up a banner from about 12 noon until 3pm at the Santa
Monica Promenade location and I think it had a huge impact. We talked
to several people, but mostly practically everyone read the banner and
would even turn around as they were walking to read it. We started by
the Farmers Market on Arizona and 3rd, where the police did hassle us
a bit but just made us move to the sidewalk area. We stayed there for
about 30 min. then when we saw a bunch of Dean supporters come out with
their measly little handheld signs to compete with us (ha!) we decided
to moved down the promenade. We found a great spot on the corner of Santa
Monica and 3rd with even more pedestrian traffic plus car traffic as well
and stood there for another hour then for the last hour walked down to
Broadway and 3rd for pedestrian and traffic exposure. Overall I would
say it made an important impact and I think we should be doing this every
weekend. I have a great banner and would welcome anyone interested in
helping for the same time this coming Saturday. - Susan Nowak |

Santa Rosa Pictures
We displayed the banner Santa Rosa
in the downtown Corby Avenue Corridor over U.S. 101. Over-all I would
say the experience was fantastic. We had from 6 to 9 people up there at
any one time waving to the people in the cars passing underneath. I would
say that we had many honks and waves from people. but as you can imagine
there are always those who are of a different view and mentality and that
is to be expected. But I would have to rate the response from the people
on a scale from one to ten as a 6.5. We calculated that somewhere between
10,000 and 11,000 cars passed underneath us in the two hour period. We
reached a lot of people in a very short period of time.

I think it's great that Dennis Kucinich's supporters have taken to the streets... :-)
It's important that those candidates NOT being adequately covered by the media find some strategic ways of presenting their candidates to the public-at-large, and this is a great way of doing it.
Southern Californians are always in their cars, and billboard advertising is one of the most effective marketing tools here... so the use of freeway banners is a SMART move!
Congrats to all those who participated, and here's to more grass-roots action!

Great example of guerrilla media!. This has the potential to get the word out in a big way about the people's candidate -- Rep. Dennis Kucinich -- and have a major impact on people's perceptions of what is possible. With this kind of action, and Dennis Kucinich's stalwart, unrelenting, truth-telling -- we may soon all have to trade our cynicism for hope -- and then roll up our sleeves, and start the work of helping him implement the major changes he is proposing.

this is terrific and we should now begin to show our numbers and solidarity. It will be our mandate as a people, after all, that will the the tide that washes away this criminal enterprise. We must move now before it gets ugly, with small effective actions like these to show the bank owners of this country not to get any funny ideas about martial law.

This is exciting news! I'm glad to know that no matter how much the media has marginalized Dennis Kucinich (the one candidate, in my opinion, that can beat GW and get this country back on the right track) that the people have the power and can "take it to the streets" and it is making a difference. Each time there is a primary/caucus his percentage is increasing and we haven’t even gotten to California yet! I am so excited for the upcoming primary and to see that this state will make a statement by supporting a true progressive candidate that will bring our troops home, in addition to promoting economic, environmental and social justice.
I love this example of the “people power” and it’s a good reminder that we can choose at any time to turn off our hypnotizing TV sets and take our power back by getting out there and making our voices heard. We don’t have to wait for the permission of the corporate media to tell us who gets coverage and who doesn’t, who’s electable and who isn’t, its our choice, its we the people who make the decision. We have the power and we have the hope and this is what Dennis Kucinich inspires!
I hope everyone will choose to vote for Dennis Kucinich in the upcoming March 2nd primary and give voice to your hopes, not your fears.

We have discovered that we must be the media, since the traditional media refuse to cover Dennis Kucinich. This is a truly grass roots campaign. We will be out on the overpasses with banners again on Monday in Santa Rosa. Please join us at this, or any of our events in Sonoma County. You can find our calendar at http://my.calendars.net/sonoma4kucinich. Vote from Vision, not from fear, on March 2nd in the California Primary Election! This is a closed primary, so you must be registered as a Democrat by February 17th if you want to vote for a Democratic Party Candidate. PS Dennis Kucinich will be in San Francisco again this Saturday, the 14th.
