Some fifty people gathered in front of KPFK to voice their profound displeasure towards the station's policy of censorship. African American and Latino youth joined the picket line to shout, "What do we want? FREE SPEECH! When do we want it? NOW!" Amy Goodman called by way of Cel Phone,
and her words were broadcast to the crowd over a megaphone. Goodman congratulated Fidel Rodriguez for his fine show... and also the crowd for defending "Seditious Beats."
It was amazing to hear Amy Goodman's voice broadcast in such a manner. Amazing to hear Rappers on the street, "dissing" KPFK for becoming corporate and boring. Amazing to see so many young people engaged in a struggle for Democratizing a Radio Station. Call or e-mail KPFK's General Manager, Mark Schubb... and demand that "Seditious Beats" be put back on the air!

i feel a sense of shock just now as i passed through a little picture and a sentence with cancelled and sedatious beats so closely written near. just come to think of it this weekend i was driving around with a couple friends changing stations and being the socially awakened one of my group i of course had in my arsenal 90.7 (kpfk)at my fingertips, and tuning back and forth i found it quite odd not to hear the underground rythm with polital and street insight that ive been accustomed to starting with sedacious for a good year and a half im almost sure more (time flies).a great medium that allowed me to enjoy my politcs with my experiences here in the sgv namely basset, pomona and el monte. the street struggle of everday cops pulling you over to interragate your skin your clothes your situation of living in such a shitty area. Theres alot of things and same experiences that i got from sedacious beats that have been unavailable in these days of corporate food, clothes, music , news , etc. . i was never to fond of of this days hip hop (artist cash-cows)as i strolled into the punk scene but the undergorund artist who arnt living in million dollar mansions, who arnt at the grammys, who might be following spoken word at your local indy cafe , who might be buying a pack of smokes and a 12 from your local liqor who probably hawked (pawned) a tv, thier car ,
shit borrowed money from their mamma just to express thier view frustration cause they feel the music cus they enjoy the freedom of an art. NO OTHER STATION PROVIDED THIS FOR ME. I grew up with cholos and shit who woulda thought i'd be talking to my homeboy about the shitty conditons of migrant farm workers or NAFTA or Mumia or the government and all its lovely foreign policys. THIS WAS STOLEN FROM US.
THIS WAS STOLEN.
