Good bye.

by Paul Daly Saturday, Feb. 03, 2001 at 2:59 AM
pauldaly@altavista.com

Good bye.

I came to this web site because I find it to be incredibly BORING to discuss politics with people who tend to agree with me.

"Good point!"

"Well put."

"Couldn't have said it better myself!"

Zzzzzzzz.

I ENJOY discussing political/cultural/economic issues with people who disagree with me.

I also think it's IMPORTANT that people from different viewpoints communicate with each other and share their ideas and beliefs.

I TRY to do it in a way so that I am respectful to others and so that there can be a free debate of ideas.

Yeah, sometimes I am sarcastic, but I've always tried to use the sarcasm to make a point, not to make someone feel like he/she is stupid. (I know, I fail in this regard sometimes. For that, I usually apologize.)

But, at this point, I feel that NOBODY at this site wishes to hear from dissenting view points.

The consensus of the comments I have seen indicate a strong desire to simply have a site intended for vigorous agreement among like-minded individuals.

The personal insults and angry e-mails I have received have disheartened me further.

Enjoy the "victory" party. I will leave you in peace.

(And no, I won't come back under a fictitious name!)

I am sad to see you go- It was always interesting reading your comments and I am saddened as well that certain of us lefties were disrespectfully harsh or crude.

Namaste,

E

Good Riddance..and Who Cares?

So Mr. Daly's dismissal is worthy of a whole news story/link. Come on guys,

let's not start jacking-off here. Mr. Daly really had nothing to contribute

to the discourse other than sarcastic opinions that went nowhere. And while

he thought the opinions expressed on this site were homogenous, I completely

disagree, since mine and the other people of color opinions--while leftist

in spirit--sometimes disagree with the predominantly white liberal perspectives

that pervade here. But we all seem to get along across these color boundaries

because we all agree that we are conscious people who know that this country's

politics are total bullshit, and furthermore, our leftist sentiments are virtually

disappearing from the conglomerated, corporate controlled news media.

Unlike the right, who are simply ignorant--they barely know who people of color

are--and seem to believe that white supremacy is ok, the left invites a multitude

of opinions, ethnic-minded and otherwise.

So to Mr. Daly I bid a fare "fuck off!" We wont miss you and your self-serving,

"I feel so sorry for myself," whiney sentiments and pointless sarcasm. Why don't

you send your thoughts into the bullshit LATIMES opinion section where your

shallow mindset will be appreciated...

Read Chomsky & come back with a new attitude

by Marcus Sunday, Feb. 04, 2001 at 7:52 PM

Hello There,

People at the IMC are mad at you because they think the IMC was created to host alternative news and to have a debate between people of the left. If we want we can see your point of view all over the media. Your message is well known. And it hanger us all to see it in our site. we have so little space in the news. We don't need somebody from the right take any of our valuable space. We don't need dissent from the right. They are already all over the media. I hope you come back to our site with a more sympathetic attitude toward the problem of the people who starve all over the world, the people who cannot afford health care, the people who are murdered by the states, the Americans who don't have the bare minimum in a supposedly land of plenty. I was once like you so I understand. I have been brainwashed by the media for many years... until I came across a book from Noam Chomsky. Maybe you also should start there. Good luck Marcus
