The City of LA is the second largest in the USA...we employ a matter of fact police Department...
If you think 50 thousand protesters will make you voice any louder than 6 millon voters in the Valley alone...guess again!
If you think trashing this City will win you support....think again!
If you think fighting with police will get you understanding....guess again! Whenever an officer is hurt or killed in this City it is "BIG NEWS".
We don't care for people who burn buildings, commit crimes, and harm other people. We do care that you are arrested and put in jail.....
50,000 protesters is a drop in the bucket when you consider the City of LA alone is 450 sq. miles and the second largest population in the nation. The add to this the poupulation of LA county on top of this....well you get the idea...the VOTERS will win every time at the ballot box. The people who work and are stuck in you traffic will win when they call the police on the cell phone.
The workers will win when we call and e mail City hall (in anger) when you take us hostage in our office buildings.
we will DEMAND the LAPD get tuff with you....

I live in Watts and I want all the gangemebers to know that I support the LAPD and hope they will not permit the crazy actions to rule our streets.
I may not like all cops but in this case I can't afford to not support them....

this is also a city with a huge gap between rich and poor that is being bled dry by nafta gatt and the WTO. It is a city of neighborhoods packed by undocumented workers, chased out of thier countries by military interventions. It is a city notorius for bad air. It is a city of extremes, so "city of LA," my question is, who do you think you are?

Instead of attacking the shield of the power--the police, and getting in useless fights, many times with cops who honestly, if mistakenly, think they are doing the right thing, rather, spend the effort rallying outside the corporate media HQs, and irresponsible City offices. Take it directly to the source of the problem, rather than blocking the streets where the average Juan and Juanita are simply trying to get home to their family after working the 10 hour day.

Hey those protesters who don't like The USA or LA-try going to China, Iran, or a place where they supress your right to even assemble with TANKS! Where the goverment kills protesters with AK-47's in the middle of town with the whole media watching. Look at nations like Vietnam who killed millions after we left in the 70's.
Many of the Liggit protesters have valid issues in some cases but this is a nation of Laws- last I knew the LAPD has never run over anyone with a TANK or killed a protester with an AK-47.
I have sent notes and E mails to Philly PD saying I hope our city follows through with the same type of tactices. GO LAPD!!!!!
Looting, burning and destruction is not free speech- IT IS A CRIME! no matter what some may call it. Break the law and you get no understanding for your cuase or issue.

You may point out all the fualts of this city till you are "blue in the face" but be thankful we have a City of LA for people to run to. Be thankful there is a USA for people to run to.
Until you lay your life on the line in some country far away and see "real war", "real blood", "real gut" and "real havoc" -and not that Hollywood crap-you are a spoiled child and need to grown up.
Until you step out of a landing craft and wonder if your next step will be your last. Until you watch friends die before your eyes- Until you feel hot metal rip through your boddy and wonder if you will ever see "home" again-you will never know what it means to be "An American." You can never understand what these people do to try and get to this country and live the life you have right now.
Until you see how bad it is in other part of this world all you can do is talk. If I could I would be out there with the LAPD but I can't....you see I only have one leg...I left my other leg behind in a Rice Patty in Vietnam.
The protesters have no right to be bitter...I can be bitter every day when I wake up and see my missing leg but I am not. I choose to look forward to a better day and thank GOD for the USA no matter how bad it it or what color the air may be!
I am so angery with the protesters I may show up and bring food to the officers just to keep them going- that's about all I can do to stop you now!
You
all you ca

Many protesters live in a dream world and think that every person who responds on this is a police officer. Werll we are not.....I am a truck driver....and I support the police.
I support them when they stop me and I support them when they do the job that nobody else wants.

While I sympathize with those in our armed forces who have bled for the principles that our nation was founded on, the truth is that the causes that our military has been used for have often been something less than just, and those principles are frequently being pushed into the background.
And the argument that 'other places are worse than here' is hardly a justification for not agitating for trying to improve the US. That's the logical equivalent of saying 'You're not dead- so what are you complaining about?'
The truth is that a lot of people are finally beginning to see a variety of subtle and not-so-subtle assaults on our liberties and freedoms, and we're not willing to take it quietly anymore. While the protestors have been doing things that are illegal (which is perfectly in line with a long tradition of civil disobedience), the police have often been responding with a level of force completly out of line with the infractions. People need to start paying more attention to what's going on in the world. That means questioning the media, the corporations and the government. It's too easy to simply become a sponge and accept whatever the idiot box tells you. If you examine the issues and decide that you don't agree with the protestors, that's one thing. If you just decide that you don't want protestors because the only thing the media mentioned was the numberof arrests, that's something completely different. Please don't make snap judgements - get both sides of the story and then decide.

The truck driver who supports the cops when he gets pulled over has a fine point of view. A selfishly fine point of view. Wake up bro. Look at Rampart, you think that's all that's wrong with LAPD?? Wake up bro. The job ain't so bad if it could be done honorably, as close to Andy Griffith as possible. But, with a drug culture which runs everything from the way people vote, to the gross temptations many officers can't refuse, that's not very easy to reach in the real world. A lot of cops hate what they see as much as those protesting. It's tough to be critical of such an insulated culture. Some stay on because of the pension, others quit, become firemen, some stay and fight for the right as long as they can. Don't paint all cops with one simplistic brush.

if i don't like the us i should move to china? what kind of commentary is this? are we really trying to say that everything is hunky-dory because our government is not as overtly oppressive as that of china? i think that we could probably reassure the chinese that their leaders behave better than hitler did, but i imagine that this type of a statement would make just as little sense to the chinese who seek to oppose the effects statism in their own country. to anyone willing to think about it, the reassurance that our leaders are not quite as oppressive and murderous as the WORST examples that we can find is not a reassurance at all. it is our hope that the global justice movement can be effective in preventing things from ever getting that bad here. the instances of excessive legal sanction and widespread torture that have been reported from within the walls of the state social control facilities do not do much to reinforce this hope. the vocal support for this type of questionable statist behavior by people who (at least claim that they) are just residents of la does little to revive this hope. remember that nazi germany had a popularly elected leadership.
