Judas´ role as treasurer is borne out by the gospel of john : again wiki very well :

Actually, john 12:1-8 evinces a genuine concern on judas´part for the poor and an antiluxury lifestyle : at bethania, at lazarus´ home, mary pulls out a lot of expensive ointment and rubs it on jesus´ feet and hair, prompting judas´ righteous indignation : " Why wasn´t this ointment sold for 300 denarii and the money given to the poor ? " - which is exactly what you would expect of a true christian . "Jesus" instead, selfishly replies : " Let her do what she´s doing, that it may serve me well for the day of my burial. You have the poor with you always, me instead, you do not have always."

It is precisely judas´ theocommunist attitude and deeds that get overwritten in the gospel lie as matthew or levi being tax collectors, that is capitalist pigs in the service of the evil empire of rome.
