SAVE KPFK & PACIFICA: VOTE IN THIS CRUCIAL ELECTION!

by King Reilly Saturday, Jun. 18, 2016 at 3:39 PM
kingreilly@roadrunner.com

Vital KPFK Local Station Board election is ongoing. June 30th, 2016 deadline for becoming eligible member-voter. Go to KPFK.org, press DONATE button and donate $25. Deadline for candidate nomination is also June 30th. Please also sign petition to Bring Back Roy "of Hollywood" Tuckman's Stolen Hours.

KPFK & PACIFICA ON EDGE OF BANKRUPTCY
June 30th 2016 Deadline to Qualify to Vote in Crucial Election

KPFK/Los Angeles, KPFA/Berkeley, WBAI/New York, KPFT/Houston & WPFW/Washington, D.C. are the members of Pacifica, the only remaining U.S. progressive radio network.

Help us win the KPFK Local Station Board election. One qualifies to vote by donating at least $25 between July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. The DEADLINE to qualify to vote is JUNE 30th. Donations from monthly memberships & fund drives do count.

Unless you are sure you have donated $25 since July 1, 2015, please go to http://kpfk.org/ and donate $25.

All 5 Pacifica stations will be holding elections. You can help us regain control of Pacifica by becoming eligible to vote, voting & asking your family & friends to do the same.

When you donate at http://kpfk.org/ , please include your email address as you will then receive ballots both by email & snail mail. If someone in your home wishes to vote, a separate $25 donation needs to be made in their own name. Spouses may qualify with $50, but must state it is a “joint” donation.

If you wish, please email me your name. With your info, I will send you updates on the election. I will also email you on the day that I receive my on-line ballot . ln the last election, many voters mistakenly sent their on-line ballot to the trash.

Try to recruit more voters BY JUNE 30th. You can do this by taking this letter to your progressive meetings, ask to make an announcement & distribute the letter. Please call & email your friends.

Contact me if you may be interested in running for the KPFK Local Station Board. The nominating period deadline is June 30, 2016. I will try to explain everything and we'll help you qualify to be a candidate. 1 meeting a month. No fees to run. You work with great people making a difference!

In 2015, KPFK management cut the hours of our most listened to programmer, Roy “of Hollywood” Tuckman.

Over 710 people have signed a petition to "Restore Roy Tuckman's Full Hours". However, KPFK management is ignoring our petition.

Consider signing & ask your friends to sign the petition at Roy's Program Guide homepage at http://www.somethingshappening.com/Home.html.

The newly elected KPFK's Local Station Board (LSB) has passed a strongly worded resolution demanding that Roy's hours be restored. Management has also ignored this resolution. Unfortunately, stronger action on the part of the LSB is being blocked by the Pacifica National Board (PNB). We must win this election to retake the PNB.

One of our side's PNB delegates Jan Goodman & others have initiated 2 lawsuits to rectify actions taken by the current PNB. These actions, which include refusing to seat the 4 recently elected PNB delegates from WBAI/New York, violate Pacifica Bylaws. The current PNB majority has exacerbated the financial problems facing Pacifica. We are taking legal action because we are afraid that the current PNB may make damaging decisions such as selling off 1 or 2 stations. These issues are discussed at http://pacificainexile.org/.

I am a supporter of the "independent" candidate slate in the last election. See http://www.CandidateSlate.org/. Our candidates for the current election will be posted after June 30th.
