When Richard Nixon ran for the presidency, Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald's, gave him 1 million dollars. In exchange, Richard Nixon exempted fast food workers from minimum wage. Nixon was later overridden by Congress, but ever since its founding in 1955, McDonald's like WalMart has been a unionbusting company.
In New York, 300 picketers were stationed outside the McDonald's in Times Square. 19 were arrested. Dozens were arrested elsewhere.
