Livestreamer @PMBeers interviews Bundy Ranch supporters during BLM stand-off (Part 2)

by Los Angeles People’s Media Friday, Apr. 25, 2014 at 6:10 AM

As tensions between Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management skyrocketed in early April 2014, mainstream media remained silent about the arrests as well as property destruction at the hands of the BLM. To learn the truth from the people on the ground, livestreamer Patti Beers (@PMBeers) carpooled to Bunkersville, NV to interview the hundreds of volunteers at Bundy Ranch. Her livestream audience grew to over 1,000 viewers by 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 12.

Amid dozens of American and yellow ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flags, Patti Beers livestreamed from Bunkersville, NV on the morning of Saturday, April 12, with over 800 people around the globe viewing her stream.

A man in an Anonymous shirt who introduced himself as Albert declared, “I’m supporting a man who is having his cows wrongfully taken on land his family has been on for 200 years.”

He continued, “It’s public land? Well, he’s the public.”

Refuting the government’s intervention on behalf of the desert tortoise, Albert explained, “Cows are actually beneficial to the ecosystem in the desert. The knock down brush, fire [hazard] goes away. They don’t really go after rabbits or tortoises. They look at them but they don’t really mess with them. You’ve got irrigation. They’re beneficial to the ecosystem.”

Another man pointed out “all this public land already sold,” speculating that the homestead was valuable land needed by the government and corporate interests. “There’s money behind it somewhere. It’s not about a turtle.”

“They’re going around killing tortoises anyway. They don’t care, not about the wild horses or the burros, either.”

A man on horseback explained, “In Arizona, we have a saying that whiskey’s for drinking and water’s for fighting for. You ought to look at what kind of water rights they have. There’s a lot of things in play. You know Harry Reid knows everything that’s going on!”

The Arizona rancher explained the gradual overreach of the federal government. “Half my range is now on the new monument. They way they do it is just a little bit at a time. ‘Ahh, we just want to take care of you. This land, you don’t need all that. No more running [cattle] on the monument now.’”

Another rancher concurred, “They’ll cut your numbers so you can’t make payments,” referring to drastic reductions in grazing allotments that cripple individual farmers’ ability to earn a living.

After pause in streaming to archive her video, Patti resumed touring the private property where Bundy Ranch supporters were camping. She commented on the culture shock of seeing rifles openly carried all around. The sheriff of Clark County was expected to address the crowd at 9 AM Saturday morning.

After another video archiving pause, Patti commented that she is not at Bundy Ranch to change anyone’s political thoughts, because that takes more than one conversation. She may not support what people say; she wants the truth to be shown. She explained that her purpose is “to get people to talk and let them tell the truth about what is happening at Bundy Ranch.” The following day, she planned to ask the perspective of the indigenous people of the Moapa Paiute tribe, whose land this was for thousands of years before settlers arrived.

Walking through the desert, Patti reflected on her conversations so far in the morning, “The left-wing extremists and right-wing extremists agree on so much. There is a lot they have a lot in common. No matter what your political beliefs are, you can agree that shit is fucked up and bullshit.”

As Patti arrived where food supplies were being distributed, she asked a man in a green shirt if he wanted to talk about why he came out today. He replied, “Why am I here? This is my county. Bundy is family. I think the BLM is full of bullcrap. They own 86% of Nevada. I’m from Utah and they’re shutting our state down. They shut off all our deer hunting areas. A tyrannical government.”

Patti was joined by a member of her carpool and a man in navy blue shirt with yellow block lettering reading “Tyranny Response Team.” She noted her livestream audience had grown to over 1,000 viewers.

Patti commented that when she first joined Occupy, she agreed with desires of reform expressed by the people around Bundy Ranch such as, “We need to get our country back.” She observed that her viewer count passed 1,100 now that her stream had been publicized on InfoWars.

Patti and her companion approached a senior Oathkeeper to ask his perspective. He introduced himself as Wiley Drake, a chaplain for several Oathkeeper chapters in California. “I’m the local pastor for a local church in California. I’ve been there 26 years, and I also serve as the chairman of the congressional prayer conference of Washington D.C.”

Wiley explained, “I’m here because I heard the United States government sent in an illegal army. BLM is a division of a the government, but in order to wear a badge you have to be constitutionally approved. They’re wearing a badge that’s illegal. If I hung a badge on my shirt that doesn’t make me a sheriff any more than going in a garage makes me a car!”

Wiley continued, “They hung a badge on their shirt illegally. They put a gun on their side. That’s illegal. They ought to be arrested for carrying a weapon.”

When driving in from his hotel last night, at a rest area, Wiley noticed two vehicles and two motor homes with Homeland Security stickers on them. Like many others on site, he heard unconfirmed rumors gunfire due to exercises at the Bureau of Management camp.

If gunfire is confirmed, Wiley will go live with information immediately. His show at TheWileyDrakeShow.com is on Monday through Friday at 9AM and 5 PM.

“We need to hold the media accountable,” commented Wiley. “I just told a young lady yesterday from Fox, ‘You just embarrassed the heck out of me, acting like a fool, asking crazy questions.’ I’ve been in the media business over 40 years. I don’t care if she is from Fox.”

Wiley complimented the interview team, “I’m excited about you and other young people that are coming on board and saying they want to tell the truth. You know what CNN stands for? Certainly Not News.”

Military aircraft continued to fly over the Bundy Ranch, sparking remarks among spectators that the FAA had declared a no-fly zone. One man explained that military aircraft are exempt from no-fly orders. “Only the Bundy family can’t fly over the area, I guess.”

Patti spoke with fellow livestreamer Vincent Easley II, based out of Las Vegas, who broadcasts 24/7 programming on UCY.tv called “What Matters Worldwide.” He also hosts “Connecting Voices.” At this point in the broadcast, Patti’s viewer count surpassed 1,400 audience members.

Vincent described the rules of cattle herding, “I grew up in the country back in Arkansas. I’ve worked with cattle. The first thing you don’t want to do is spook the cow.” The Bureau of Land Management has “killed some. They run them down. The ran a lot with helicopters.”

“Now, this is calving season, right now,” Vincent explained. “What happens when the mama spooks, the calf goes and lays down under a bush somewhere. When they run them off like that, they go frantic, they run to death easily that way. They killed the cattle on purpose, the ones that have died. There is no telling how many baby cows are out there that are just going lay there and die.”

Vincent commented that he has heard estimates from 1 to 3 million dollars for the total cost of the BLM operation. “It’s a crying shame they come in and get away with this stuff. It’s under $100,000 of cattle out there, if they were all gathered up properly and auctioned off.”

Amon Bundy and his cousin Happy taught Vincent new information about the symbiotic relationship between the cattle and the desert tortoise. “The tortoise actually benefits from the cattle. Their droppings from the grazing, the turtles actually eat that, and the turtle population is very abundant from the grazing. So, it’s not about the tortoise.”

Two women from Lincoln County, NV whose family lost cattle ranching property years ago came to speak out against the BLM. A landowner with white hair said, “We’re anti-BLM. They’re thugs.”

“During the Dust Bowl days the land did need to be managed,” she said. “I know we can’t have another dustbowl. They did their job, Now back off.”

Echoing a sentiment expressed by nearly everyone at Bundy Ranch. “I don’t think it’s about anything we know [about], and I’m not even a conspiracy theorist.”

Patti received a very firm handshake from retired Las Vegas police officer and deputy sheriff Doug Tenney. He commented that he appreciated her being there and walked off.

The Los Angeles People’s Media team followed the retired peace officer to ask him what he thought about the process under which citizens have a right to place a lien on the bond of any officer who violate their oaths. Doug commented, “I’ve done everything I can throughout my whole career to avoid being in such a situation.”

When asked about the use of excessive force by veteran and younger officers, Doug responded, “When I was in the academy in 1988, they were still calling us peace officers. In the last 10 years, the term has changed, and they’re calling them law enforcement officers.”

Patti archived her stream and resumed with an opening shot of half a dozen Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers in khaki shirts observing the crowd gathered in front of the stage. The amplified program began with a prayer blessing of gratitude.

The speaker at the podium asked if there were any Eagle Scouts in the audience. An Eagle Scout named Jim came forth and led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, which was followed by cheers, whistles, and shouts of “hoo rah.”

One of Cliven Bundy’s sons took the podium and expressed a heartfelt thanks to the people who stood up for what they believed in. By coming together, people have realized “over-reaching federal government is throughout all the states, and that’s why we’re here. That’s why we’re united.”

With his voice cracking, the Bundy son described the fear of being shot earlier in the week if he stepped off the public road. “We’re here under martial law by an unauthorized agency.”

However, he felt the power of the people when they peacefully pushed back against the BLM by insisting on viewing the contents of a dumptruck removing property from the Bundy Ranch. By having numbers on the ground, the Bundy family was able to stand their ground and prevent further snatch-and-grab arrests.

“We can carry our weapons if we like, because we have a 2nd amendment right. That’s a God-given right.” He continued, “We don’t have to carry our weapons right now because we’re afraid. I know that feeling. Just yesterday evening, I was really afraid. My family pointed out that there’s a lot of manipulation going on. Today we have been confirmed by the Creator that we are not going to be afraid. This is his battle.”

Cliven Bundy’s son next revealed that the sheriff was on his way, because he had called earlier in the day and asked to speak to Cliven in private. Cliven offered to hear what the sheriff had to say in a public dialog on stage.

While waiting for the county sheriff to join them, the speaker called his uncle Steve up to address the audience. Steve asked, “Monday morning there were three of us and you could count 50 armed vehicles. We had snipers in these hills up here. I had that feeling of desperation that our freedoms are gone. How will we ever get them back again?”

“I don’t want to see any violence. I believe in order of law as the basis of this country. Order of law provides us that freedom. If we don’t support that order of law and if we don’t manage it as a free people, we lose it.”

“The bottom line is, we have a common interest in our freedom. I see a whole society being picked apart fierceness in little groups that won’t stand together… Everybody’s divided and everybody has some kind of conflict. This divides our society from being able to stand here.”

However, today, “I see people from every walk of life standing here. This has changed my life from Monday until today… my feeling about my fellow man and this land and how great it can be again.”

Addressing the Bundy Ranch stand-off, Steve said, “Cliven is at odds because he hasn’t paid range fees. That’s one of the most negative things…that range fees aren’t paid. But they wouldn’t be accepted.”

Steve declared, “There’s not one person standing here, or business in this country, who can’t be destroyed through federal regulation and harassment. It’s IRS. It’s OSHA. It’s everywhere you live. If we’re going to make a difference in our country, we need to correct this!”

“These types of regulations are turning us into a third world county. It’s not just the land, it’s education, it’s our food supply... What started here started with the EPA,” revealed Steve. “I was in the federal courts in Las Vegas when the ranchers scraped together enough money to try to appeal the ruling for them to remove the cattle off of this land.”

At this point, the Patti’s livestream cut out. She lost cell phone service prior to the mid-morning announcement that the BLM was backing down and leaving the area. Her video coverage resumed at a lunchtime party celebrating the temporary victory. She and a companion remarked about the complete shift in the energy from the morning #RangeWar to the afternoon #BundyPicnic:

“For all you 97 [viewers] out there, it got as little intense as we headed out the to the roadblock on the 15. The law enforcement there was very intimidating…They had snipers on the plateau. There was no shame, pointing the rifles at Americans.”

As the conversation continued, she recalled, “When we first got here, they were telling the cowboys back off, back away.”

Patti interjected, “They were actually telling people to leave!”

A woman in a yellow hat sharing their picnic table observed, “If [the Bundys] had tried to make that stand, and there hadn’t been so many people who showed up afterwards, it… and we never would have heard about it.”

The trio at the picnic table exchanged information on the cattle: “138 of them died from heat exhaustion from being rounded up the way that they were, and two bulls were shot.” One family member snuck onto the property to “look into the trashbins to see if there were any cow carcasses, and they found all their water piping and tanks ripped out in there.”

The Los Angeles People’s Media team reiterated their intention to interview the Moapa Paiute on Sunday about the original ownership of the land.

Walking along the highway as speeches continued from the stage in the background, Patti remarked on the similarities between left-wing and right-wing extremists, “A lot of the conversations I heard today are similar to the conversations I heard from Occupy, from anarchists, socialists, communists. Everyone has very similar grievances.”

In response to a mention of American patriots, Patti explained her personal political beliefs: “I don’t believe in borders and nations. I believe borders and nations are so last millennium. It doesn’t make any sense that if I was born in a certain geographical location, that I have rights that I have rights someone born in another geographical location doesn’t have. That’s not natural. It doesn’t really make sense to me. In that respect, I’m not a patriot. I’m not a nationalist.”

Right winger denounces Bundy's racism

by nobody Friday, Apr. 25, 2014 at 11:58 AM

"...open ones mouth and remove all doubt."

Joe Scarborough denounced Bundy.

The Washington Times is a hard-right newspaper, and they did something sly. They used the denunciation as an opportunity to reprint Bundy's statements.

In particular, he said that African Americans were more free under slavery than they are today.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/apr/24/conservatives-should-feel-exposed-bundys-racist-co/

DKos notes that Rand Paul ditched him.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/24/1294312/-Cliven-Bundy-s-racist-comments-force-some-Republican-supporters-to-back-off#

Sean Hannity is stepping aside.

http://www.politicususa.com/2014/04/24/sean-hannity-claims-real-victim-cliven-bundys-racist-comments.html

That PoliticsUSA article mentions grazing rights.

Grazing rights and water rights are interesting. The people who got those rights, originally, were the settlers and original land owners who took their land from whomever was there before, and started using the resources.

These rights aren't like other rights - these are rights to access resources and pay a low price for them. So, while these people are complaining, it's complaining about the fact that they are getting a discount and access to resources that other people don't automatically get.

They're really complaining about a kind of "inherited wealth".

That's why they generally don't complain, pay fees, and get on with business - or get put out of business.

ATV rally goes through sacred sites

by nobody Saturday, May. 10, 2014 at 7:49 PM

These people have no sense.

"An illegal all-terrain vehicle (ATV) ride planned this weekend through Recapture Canyon in Utah is the latest flashpoint between anti-government activists and federal land managers. The illegal ride is already drawing criticism from the Navajo Nation, putting American Indian burial sites and cultural resources at risk, and has even forced the cancellation of a traditional Navajo Warrior welcome home ceremony for veterans."

Seriously, they are narrow-fucking-minded. They think the entire world is "USA" and nothing else matters. History doesn't matter. It's a white supremacist agenda, and they don't care.

Even the minorities involved in this thing are a pack of sellouts and KKK sympathizers.

Some progressives are so easily swayed by libertarians just because they like the same health food alternative medicine and share a level of paranoia that is bordering on insane.

This is like the 70s when the hippies retreated to the land, and then a bunch of them turned into racist nazis and freaky Christians. It's easier to just get with the existing pattern than to question it when things are under pressure.
