Olympic human rights in U.S. and U.K.

Who are they to preach to the world about human rights?

We have been seeing plenty of vicious criticism from the American press about the staging of the Sochi Olympics in Russia. The American press seems to forget how in the Atlanta '96 games poor local residents and homeless people were shuffled out of the way to make them invisible during the games. It also forgets how Atlanta was bombed during the games and that was followed by such a shameful investigation that the FBI and Atlanta Journal-Constitution were sucessfully sued by the late Richard Jewel for millions of dollars for their collaborative public crucifixion of him as the bomber

High profile Americans like to speak as if they represent the views and wishes of the American people. They don't. American mass media like to pose as watchdogs of world politics and human rights AND as presenting American culture to the world. They don't. One of the things we ordinary people object to the most is how our high profile “leaders” both in politics and media love to bully other nations of the world over their human rights misdeeds. Yes there are complaints. But the U.S. has no moral right to chastise anyone until it cleans up its own misdeeds. If anyone needs reminding, here are some articles from the internet archives to help them rembmber.

The Police, the Press and the People, about the '96 Atlanta games

Shortly after the publication of PPP in '96 it was quoted in this critique of Atlanta games security

It was quoted again in this critique of the London games
