HELP ALICIA KEYS RESIST BOYCOTT ISRAEL PRESSURE!
bet.jpg, image/jpeg, 584x326
Over 12,000 people from across the globe who has signed the Creative Community for Peace (CCFP) anti-boycott petition [PETITION] asking all artists facing boycott pressure to keep their concert dates and play for peace in Israel.
Anti-Israel activists have turned up the boycott pressure on all artists scheduled to perform in Israel but especially on ALICIA KEYS. On May 31, Alicia told the New York Times that she would keep her concert date in Israel despite boycott pressure: "I look forward to my first visit to Israel. Music is a universal language that is meant to unify audiences in pace and love, and that is the spirit of our show." [NY Times]
But instead of respecting her decision, boycott Israel coalition responded by intensifying their efforts. On June 11, they presented a boycott petition with 12,000 signatures to Alicia’s foundation. On June 12, BET.com (Black Entertainment Television) posted a one-sided, aniti-Israel article and created a poll asking the public, “Should Alicia Keys Play in Israel”. [BET Poll] The Creative Community for Peace represents a cross section of the creative world--those who create and help create music, films, and television programs--and their fans.
We may not all share the same politics or the same opinion on the best path to peace in the Middle East. But we do agree that singling out Israel, the only democracy in the region, as a target of cultural boycotts while ignoring the now-recognized human rights issues of her neighbors will not further peace.

"Alicia told the New York Times that she would keep her concert date in Israel"
She no longer gets airtime on any of my stations, I've moved her albums to the israel folder along with any other artist or band who has ever performed there.

- on thursday I bumped up the schedule of upgrading the other 2 stations to digital, by 14 weeks.
shit channel and the other 2 clusters here have no digital (IBOC or FM eXtra) stations at all.
So I am now the first community station operator in the whole world to have 3 (and shortly 4) pure digital stereo stations in a town that has none.
..ordinary man

Alicia Keys Says ‘No’ To BDS
Alicia Keys is scheduled to perform in Tel Aviv for the first time on July 4th. Her show has been sold out for weeks, with hundreds of thousands anticipating her arrival.
Anti-Israel and BDS (Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions) groups have come out in an attempt to dissuade Keys from performing in Israel. Yet supporters of Israel are speaking just as loudly recently to praise Keys for coming to Israel and promise her she will gain from her performance there.
“Congratulations Alicia Keys for coming to play for all the people that love her and her music,” Lainer wrote in an email. “She’s going to see the real heart and soul and passion of the Israeli people, and she’ll have a fantastic time.”
According to Leiner, Keys has “made it clear” that she will not acquiesce to the BDSers demands and “will perform in Israel.”
Those protesting Keys’s upcoming performance in Israel are, as might be expected, expressing their opposition with Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. One petition from protestors asked Keys “to stand on the side of justice and cancel her gig in Tel Aviv, Israel” and to join the protestors now “in the cultural boycott of Israel, and help stop entertaining apartheid,” according to USA Today.
Such protests have been successful in the past, USA Today further reported. Musicians such as Elvis Costello, Santana, The Pixies, and even physicist Stephen Hawking, according to the report, have decided not to visit Israel for their respective professional needs because of the BDSers efforts.
But Keys has shown little submission to the protestors’ desires.
“I look forward to my first visit to Israel,” she said in a statement to the New York Times last week, according to the World Jewish Congress. “Music is a universal language that is meant to unify audiences in peace and love, and that is the spirit of our show.”

One of America's greatest musical and artistic talents, Alicia Keys, has shown the kind of moral and artistic integrity that is so sadly lacking among some of her more excitable contemporaries, (not to say clichéd windbags unable to break free from fashionable anti-intellectual prejudice against the Jewish state).
As the World Jewish Congress (WJC) is highlighting today, Ms Keys has refused to bow to pressure from characters such as Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame, and Alice Walker, a Pulitzer prize winning writer.
In response to a call to boycott Israel by cancelling a July 4 concert in Tel Aviv, the singer, song-writer, and actress said: "I look forward to my first visit to Israel. Music is a universal language that is meant to unify audiences in peace and love, and that is the spirit of our show."
How could one disagree? Well, one could disagree if, instead of "peace and love", one's primary motivation was hatred and lies.
If people such as Waters and Walker can provide a better explanation for their calls they are quite welcome to explain them here on The Commentator. Indeed, I'll go one better: why don't Waters and Walker let me interview them about their behaviour? Surely they wouldn't turn down a right to reply so as better to give their own version of events. (Would any reader care to ask them?)
Meanwhile, it's Friday, which means people are going to be beheaded today in Saudi Arabia; it's Friday in Syria, which means men, women and children will be slaughtered to protect the Assad despotism; and it's Friday like any other Friday in much of the rest of the world where hundreds of millions live under oppressive regimes.
But why not just ignore all that and boycott Israel, one of the most advanced democracies in the world?
Alicia Keys has explained why not, and that's a great reason for writing to thank her for her decency, and for going out and buying one of her records today.

that I banned her LAST YEAR when she became involved with shit channel's concert deal in los vegas
.. I could see the writing on the wall so-to-speak
I won't engage in tossing artists about like a soccer ball in a struggle over israhell's PR hasbara efforts, insted, like shit channel and the dixie chicks, such artists simply get no more airplay.
any artist that simply PARTNERS with shit channel (like aerosmith for example) also goes into the 'no_playout' folder, so I end up concentrating on all the artists and bands shit channel doesn't play - which is good :)

What are the calls of your 4 stations. I want to make sure that you are paying your license fees. I will notify ASCAP and SESAC to inquire as well. I didn't know your group existed. Probably owe some back fees as well.
