Monday night, Barnes and Noble in Aliso Viejo ejected two elderly women who suffered from disabilities. The excuse assistant manager Carlos gave was that one of the Senior Citizens closed her eyes. This is a common reason for removal at the Aliso Viejo store.
The Sheriff's Department was called in to remove the elderly disabled customers to the shock of everyone present. One of women spilled her coffee on her outfit. Another had to rush to a nearby hospital for serious health complications from the incident.
Customers sitting in the cafe area were upset and complained about the removal. Several said the women had just been sitting there politely drinking coffee and there was no reason to throw them out of the store. Some customers said they planned to protest the mistreatment of the elderly women.
Last February, the same Barnes and Noble was caught ejecting disabled customers. Recently the vice president of Barnes and Noble apologized for ejecting a 73 year old man from a store.
Bookstore closings are becoming commonplace. How long can this store stay open with customers alienated?
I used to go there but the management was so obnoxious I started going to an independent book store.
The independent book stores are much better. The people running them treat you like human beings.
