GLP Expands Safety Net from Soc Sec & Public Assistance in Times of Economic Uncertainty

by $$$ for citizens, NOT corporations Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 8:46 PM

While the establishment Republicans and Democrats are dependent on corporations for lobbyist funding and thus return the favor by rewarding corporations with taxpayer subsidies, the Green Liberty Party is immune to the disease of corporate dependency.

The current economic conditions under a corporatist version of capitalism are extremely uncertain for many U.S. citizens. Since corporations have been deified under corporate personhood laws they have chosen the easiest path to achieving financial success, even if that goal demands they relocate outside of the U.S. borders in search of cheaper labor and less environmental and safety regulations. This flight of jobs and capital from the U.S. is harmful to workers and their home communities.

In addition to repealing corporate personhood laws that deify corporations the Green Liberty Party Presidential Candidate Mark Miller will try another method to restore stability to U.S. communities struggling after once local companies became multinational corporations and abandoned their home towns. This new method is based upon the concept of Social Security and Public Assistance programs that recirculate money within the community and function as safety nets.

Despite constant attacks from the corporatist spokespeople in the establishment Republican and Democrat parties, the public payments from the government are not as much of a drain on our economy as is “corporate flight” from the U.S. to other nations because of lower wages and less restrictions. The majority of people on either Social Security or Public Assistance are purchasing food, clothing and shelter primarily from stores and markets within their local communities. Even if their choice for these products is another multinational corporation like Wal-mart, the jobs remain local as stores cannot travel as far from the community as manufacturers if they need customers.

The Green Liberty Party would encourage recirculation of public assistance monies into local farmers markets and craft fairs whenever possible. The goal is for every U.S. citizen to qualify for a monthly emergency public assistance funding that can supplement any additional income from employment. This new program will cover every documented U.S. citizen, and if an individual chooses not to work they can survive on the monthly Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for their entire natural lives. The COLA payment will be 1,000 dollars each month, making every citizen able to survive without resorting to homelessness or starvation. The worst case scenario is some individuals will decide that they can survive on the COLA program and not bother to look for any other employment. However, the majority of U.S. citizens will try to rise above the basic COLA payments and try for additional rewards from employment. Either way the monies from the COLA payment will recirculate into the community when citizens purchase food, clothing, shelter and other daily needs from local stores and markets.

The COLA payments will also function as a safety net in case of sudden job losses from closure and migration of corporations to “greener pastures” of lower wages and less restrictions on pollution and workplace safety. The solution to corporate migration is NOT to lower U.S. wages or disregard environmental protections under the EPA and workplace safety requirements under OSHA to invite them to return to the U.S. as establishment parties would suggest. If Republican candidate Mitt Romney would get elected, he would reward the bad behavior of certain corporations by enabling them to bring unsafe practices here despite the struggles fought by environmentalists and unions to secure standards for their community’s ecosystems and workplace health and safety. It seems if Romney gets his way, we will repeal child labor laws also so that corporations can feel comfortable having sweatshops here in the U.S. instead of across the border in maquiladoras or overseas.

Unfortunately under Democratic candidate Barack Obama the status quo that enables corporations to migrate outside of the U.S. in search of child labor, lower wages, less workplace safety and environmental protections remains firmly in place. The problems with “lesser evilism” as promoted by the Democrats when courting working people and environmentalists is that the degrees of evil or negative policies that benefit corporations above all else are not that far from the “worst evil” of the Republicans. The reason behind the narrow margin of pro-corporate policies is above all else the funding and lobbying that BOTH status quo parties require for their “megamillions” campaigns. The Green Liberty Party Presidential Candidate Mark Miller is immune to corporate lobbying as the GLP does NOT accept any donations larger than ten dollars and ALL donations must be from ANONYMOUS INDIVIDUALS with NO STRINGS ATTACHED!!

The GLP immunity to corporate lobbyist money makes them the ideal party to help the people of the U.S. reclaim some power that was lost to corporations and help to return that lost power to their own communities. The COLA program is intended to help individuals start their own business including small scale farming, crafts, clothing and light industrial manufacturing from the ground up. The worst case scenarios would be alcoholism or drug addiction, though individuals who consistently abuse their COLA payments by becoming chronic abusers of drugs or alcohol is mandatory rehabilitation with focus on teaching afflicted individuals self-treatment options for addictions recovery and life skills such as farming, trades and making clothing. The GLP goal with the COLA program is to enhance the abilities of individuals throughout every community to grow their own food and make their own clothing and shelter. While the GLP does not expect every COLA recipient to become the next Donald Trump, the options are there for those who are motivated to expand their farming and craft operations into thriving local businesses that can engage in trade with nearby communities and even other states and nations once established.

The bottom line with corporate migrations outside of the U.S. is that they are welcome to return home at any time, though the GLP will NOT permit ANY rolling back or repeal of environmental protections, workplace safety regulations and child labor laws. In addition the GLP will revoke the U.S. protections given to once domestic corporations that have chosen to abandon their home communities in favor of lower wages and weakened environmental and workplace safety standards. So if a U.S. based corporation such as Ford, Caterpillar, Bain or any other fair weather corporate “friend” decided to close their doors at home and move operations to Mexico, India or elsewhere, they can become corporate citizens of their new countries.

The U.S. government under the GLP will wash our hands of these corporate turncoats and instead reward and support those local corporations and small independent businesses that decided to stay here in the U.S. and support their hometown community. Since the GLP does not accept ANY funding from corporations we are not required to babysit them if they decide to leave the U.S. in favor of lower wages and weakened protections.

It needs to be restated that current standards of workplace health and safety, environmental protections, competitive wages and child labor laws were ALL won by the efforts of people in communities throughout the U.S. and are not subject to repeal or reduction to please corporations. The GLP Presidential candidate Mark Miller will NOT enable corporations to use economic extortion against the people of the U.S. by claiming corporations will return if only we the people of the U.S. would lower our high standards and allow a little more pollution and a little less workplace safety here. The GLP response to that skewed logic is “With fair weather friends like migrating corporations, who needs enemies?”

If we enable our corporate fair weather friends to return to the U.S. in exchange for repealing hard won workplace safety standards and ecosystem protections we may as well invite the Iranian Army over to utilize U.S. citizens for target practice. What it amounts to is caving in to corporatist extortionists who are twisting our collective arms with joblessness and destruction of communities. Bailing out corporatist extortionists with taxpayer dollars year after year is like the poor pizza shop owner paying off the thugs sent over by the Gambino Family so that “nothing bad happens around here”. The security payments made the first time to mafia thugs puts the pizza shop owner in a position of permanent debt slavery as their labors are being exploited by threat of violence. In many ways the repeal of safety standards, wages, ecosystems and child labor protections makes the capitulation to the extortionists the first time and enables them to get a foot in the door, a wedge to then further reduce protections and wages by removing the jobs.

If the return of jobs by corporatist extortionists is compared to the protection reward offered by the Gambino thugs the people will always have that held over their head if they try to win back protections and safety standards held prior to the giveaway. The corporatist extortionist can always use the threat of leaving the U.S. as a means of control over the workers and environmentalists struggling to maintain the protections hard won by earlier generations as the mafia thugs can use the threat of “non-protection” from implied impending harm to the pizza shop owner’s store. The very first payment made by either the U.S. people to the corporatist extortionists or the pizza shop owner to the mafia thugs will set the path for long term slavery of both unfortunate victims.

The GLP Presidential Candidate Mark Miller will NOT allow the U.S. people or pizza shop owners to become victims of extortion schemes by either corporatist extortionists or mafia thugs. Ultimatums from corporations can be answered with ultimatums from political candidates who are not so easily influenced by corporate lobby funding.

Following my first day in office of U.S. President the GLP candidate Mark Miller pledges that he will give our fair weather corporate friends 6 months to return to the U.S. and restore ALL jobs once held to documented U.S. citizens with NO repeal of ANY labor or environmental protections

OR

said corporations will face revocation of ANY protection from U.S. military or diplomacy and engage with their new home nation as if they were a local corporation. For example, if Ford decided it was better for their short term profits to leave the U.S. and operate a maquiladora sweatshop in Mexico then they are now a Mexican corporation. The GLP does not desire to have anything to do with corporatist extortionist turncoats other than a wave “farewell” and “don’t let the door hit you on your corporatist asses!”

The GLP will then seize all of Ford’s assets here in the U.S. and auction them off to any U.S. corporation that does NOT operate sweatshops overseas. That means a brand new community collective corporation forming in Detroit to open up shop in the old Ford buildings and start a new car model, with emphasis on energy independence. The auction of corporatist turncoat property will also be used to pay for the mag-lev flood to drought pipeline trains and the COLA program. The COLA program will support the endeavors of community collective corporations that are locally based and need to fix up infrastructure left abandoned by our corporatist fair weather friends.

The COLA program is a combination of socialist and libertarian principles that foster community growth and individual achievement. Those in the status quo parties need to acknowledge that such a COLA program already exists for multinational corporations who ALL receive taxpayer subsidies year after year from the Republicans with military weapons corporations to the Democrats with agribusiness corporations. As a result of heavy handed lobbyist influences from the military-industrial complex and the agribusiness complex these corporations are guaranteed a seat at the feeding trough for all eternity until the corporatist establishment is removed from power by independent candidates like the GLP.

The GLP position is for the misguided COLA for corporations program of taxpayer subsidies needs to be redirected as a COLA program for every individual U.S. citizen. If we’re going to be giving away taxpayer monies we may as well give it to someone who will remain here and spend the money in U.S. communities or overseas as tourists than to non-human corporations that suck up the taxpayer subsidies and then run away from the U.S. workers and people because our labor and environmental standards are too high for their liking.

The qualifications for GLP Presidential Candidate Mark Miller include being a recipient of Social Security for mental health problems suffered as a teenager. For anyone who feels that being mentally ill disqualifies Mark Miller from becoming an effective and positive U.S. President it may help to read the biography of John Nash “A Beautiful Mind” and read about Abraham Lincoln and his bouts with manic-depression. There are plenty more mental health services available today than were available for Abraham Lincoln during his stay at the White House, so if he could win the Civil War while being an unmedicated manic-depressive, certainly Mark Miller can implement a few beneficial social programs while being surrounded by therapists and psychiatrists.

Since having learned to survive on a shoestring budget for my existence Mark Miller will renounce any payment for serving as U.S. President and continue to receive Social Security, making me the first “volunteer U.S. President”. Having Secret Service protections and a White House to live inside of will be benefit enough for me after having been homeless for several years.

The real reason that Green Liberty Party candidate Mark Miller is running for U.S. President is not fame or glory, it is personal survival. Mark Miller is extremely concerned about the path that the U.S. people are on with the current two party system of Republicans and Democrats both under heavy influences of corporatist lobbyists. There is no hope for the people of the U.S. under either the Reverse Romney Hood Republicans who steal money from the poor and hand it to the corporations nor under the “Obamaloney” of Democrats who continue to subsidize corporations despite their anti-corporate public image. Presenting the lesser evil option by saying the opposite yet physically doing the same as Republicans is dishonest and a symptom of pathological dependency on corporate lobbyist money to win any elections.

Obama talks a good game while Romney feels no emotional pain, yet neither one will be able to maintain. The reason they cannot maintain is their dependency on corporate lobbyist funding. Only GLP candidate Mark Miller is truly free from corporatist lobbyist influence and pledges to listen to nobody else outside of the E.T. alligators talking telepathically inside his head. Just kidding! Seriously though, GLP candidate Mark Miller is indeed capable and willing to serve as volunteer U.S. President with the White House residency and Secret Service being the only payment. In return Mark Miller pledges to treat corporatist extortionists with tough minded fairness, offering return in 6 months with full U.S. jobs restoration or seizure of ALL corporate assets by the U.S. Government. In addition all taxpayer corporate subsidies will be revoked and given to U.S. citizens in the form of COLA payments of 1,000 monthly with provisions installed to ensure the COLA monies recirculate domestically indefinitely and enable growth of local community farms, clothing and craft production and green industry.

This remains true today, from the U.S. to the UK;

Life on the dole is no fun! (though it remains a preferred option to starvation and searching through garbage cans for a meal!!)
