The World Loses Another Peacemaker

by PHD Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at 9:59 PM

Peacemaker and inspiration Esther Hull was laid to rest. She inspired a movement that saved lives.

On Friday, November 25, 2011, Esther Theresa Hull has been laid to rest at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana.

Esther Hull was known as a peacemaker by people who were inspired by her to assist others and to work for peace and harmony.

Esther's funeral service was full of testimonials of how her kindness had touched others in her work, in her church, in politics and in her personal life. Very few people get through life without doing an unkind act but Esther is one of those few. Her life was about love and helping others. There were so many touching testimonials that the service ran over with more and more attendees wanting to speak of how she had brought love and warmth to their lives.

Esther served for years as a California Democratic Party delegate. She was a civil servant for 40 years, working as much as eighty hours a week into her late eighties. She was an important participant of the Patrick Henry Democratic Club of America and inspired many resolutions that made it into Democratic policy. She was an important part of Dennis Kucinich's Presidential campaign in Orange County. Labor leader Ray Cordova often said she was his hero.

In her personal life, Esther was a wife until her husband John's passing, a mother and a grandmother. Esther's daughter Ruth spoke of how her mother was her best friend and her Ruth's daughter spoke of her own close relationship with her grandmother.

Esther's granddaughter Natasha, a popular singer and actress who currently attends UC Berkeley, supplied much of the music for the service. Natasha was the girl responsible for the founding of the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party..

Actress Charlene Fernetz played the piano, with the closing piece being, "Till We Meet Again." Charlene's husband Peter Mora performed the service, along with Jim Parkensen, followed by testimonials to Esther's life.

In her late life, Esther inspired a team of people to take down two corrupt Republican officials in Orange County, officials who were running scams to take over the estates of elderly people and warehouse them until they died. In changing the face of how Orange County treats the elderly, Esther's life may have saved countless other lives.

Although, Esther had helped others, she was unable to get back her life fortune which had been embezzled by a violent man who had damaged her health and placed her and her family in fear for their lives. Sadly, the man whose actions appear to have ultimately resulted in Esther's death, showed up at her funeral and demanded entrance. His own daughter and others requested the police be called because he had threatened more than one person present with death. Finally, he left rather than face the police.

Because Esther's money had been embezzled by the man who tried to force himself on the funeral, there had been a rush to find a way to afford an honorable send off for this great lady after she passed. It helped that Esther was loved by so many people. Funding for the services and burial was obtained from a variety of sources, including remaining family and a kind-hearted public official..

Esther was laid to rest next to her husband John under a tree.

Esther was one of the most kind and considerate persons to walk the Earth. This was a terrible loss. There is nobody like her.

Here is a picture of her at a family event in her home before her son-in-law damaged her health.

Esther was a beautiful person. I don't understand why that man isn't in jail for what he did to Esther and her family.
