Occupy LAUSD Snark

by nobody Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at 5:28 PM

So I went to the UTLA thing, and it was good. This is a little rant about the media.

Occupy LAUSD Snark...

So I went to the rally, and it was pretty good. Very spirited, and the anti-corporate message, I supported, which was why I was there.

Down at the corner, this lady, Patricia McAllister, was standing with an anti-Jewish sign. She is the woman who got on reason.tv and Fox saying that the crisis is the fault of Zionist bankers, and we need to have Congress control the Fed.

Now, it looks like the media want to give her more attention... while they kind of ignore the real protest which is happening up the street.

They had coverage up there, but why waste resources on this person with a fringe racist message?

Here's the protest

Here's the protest...

And this was the protest. It was hard to count, but it was pretty big. They had a few talking points. Stop the corporate giveaway to charter schools. Stop with the RIFs and bring teachers back from layoffs. Reduce class sizes. Bring back support staff. And they were going to occupy the sidewalk.

I heard McAllister was fired

Well... that's what happens when you say something racist on youtube and you happen to work at a job where racism matters. If you want to be a racist, you have to stick to fields where people won't care: construction, food service, IT, or anything that doesn't deal directly with people.

(Yes, I know, "African Americans can't be racist, etc." It's actually not true - this is such a situation.)

The zionist banker theory is a conspiracy theory. It's not true. It's not quite false either - because Jews have done well under capitalism... but so have non-Jewish whites, Japanese in Japan, some Arab royalty, and Germans.

Here's a big list of conspiracy theories: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conspiracy_theories

The thing about these theories is, if they were true, they would really be suppressed.

Wikileaks proved this. There were numerous conspiracies and secrets, but they didn't mesh with the popular conspiracy theories. (Of course, there's now a conspiracy theory that Wikileaks are the CIA.)

The Wikileaks release of embassy wires was fascinating in that it basically confirmed what everyone knew, but showed it was more lurid and creepy. The power of the wealthy elite is considerable - they are almost like their own countries. The government works to defend the interests of American businesses overseas.

They also proved something about the big meetings like the Bilderbergers and Bohemian Grove -- they matter, but it turns out that world leaders meet each other secretly all the time. They get on an airplane to their country, and have a meeting. It seems like meetings are their entire life. They even talk to each other by mail and telephone. Who'da thunk?!

Not only that, but the results of these meetings are kept secret, and what the politicians are telling you is often a half-truth or is hiding a truth, or is a lie. They explain things in ways that aren't accurate, but tell a nice story. They do this to keep the public calm, but also to hold on to power. Believe it or not.
