Opposing Corporate Bullying and monopolies

Boycott Windows 8

to abolish evil UEFI BIOS secure booting.

UEFI Secure booting is unfair to computer users because it is a unfair BIOS ROM on the motherboard that prevents the booting of any other operating system except for Windows 8. Earlier versions of Windows will no longer install or boot. ReactOS will not boot. Even LINUX will be prevented from booting on Windows 8 compatible computers because the BIOS ROM UEFI Secure boot will only allow genuine Microsoft Windows 8 to boot on new computers. The security that UEFI secure boot provides is to protect Microsoft from competition. There was an allegation on the Internet that Microsoft is bullying or bribing computer manufacturers into excluding all other operating systems except for security keyed Windows 8.

People who do not want boot sector viruses or rootkits or malware installed on the boot sector of their computers hard drives can exclude that PRIVELEGED OPERATION by creating a unpriveleged user and logging in as unpriveleged user for most browsing of the Internet. An Unpriveleged user does not have the authority to install boot sector viruses or rootkits or malware so the malware fails to install and IS LOST!

Using Microsofts strategy of preserving always browsing the Internet as Administrator High Priveleged superuser lets the malware get written to the priveleged portion of the NTFS Hard Drive. Microsoft UEFI Secure booting will then make it impossible to reboot or restart the Windows 8 computer so all data WILL BE LOST with UEFI secure booting as security!

Pretty please BOYCOTT all Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office both now and in the future. If your computer is for Windows 7 or earlier please keep it instead of replacing it with a new UEFI secure booting Windows 8 computer. Most Older computers Windows 7 or earlier can probably boot Linux and Computer users who still have good old computers should try dual booting with Linux as a competing operating system. Scientific Linux 6.1 installed with software development workstation under install with basic video driver is one option. Ubuntu Ultimate edition 2.7 Linux is another option. Most Linux is free but you have to download the ISO and burn your own bootable DVD. openoffice.org might provide an alternative to Microsoft Office and some versions of LINUX already have it on their install DVDs.

Microsoft has always hated competition. Microsoft allowed its DOS to be installed on IBM P.C.s as long as IBM allowed its clones to also provide a BIOS for and use Microsoft DOS when Bill Gates was in charge. Bill gates hated competition but was still nice enough to computer users to use self control to limit his tactics. The new president of Microsoft President Steve Ballmer is even meaner to competition than Bill Gates was. President Steve Ballmer is also mean to computer users by making Windows harder to install and use than ever before. It is blatently obvious that UEFI secure boot is a violation of antitrust laws by preventing competing operating systems from booting on hardware that is not even made directly by Microsoft.

I am hoping that groups will organize protests against Microsoft.

Pretty Please boycott Microsoft and postpone buying a new computer until AFTER Microsoft goes out of business!!

Eric Matteson.
