The whistleblower Sean Hoare was found dead for unexplained reasons inside his home after becoming increasingly paranoid and reclusive since he exposed the British police involvement with Murdoch media empire's phone tapping scandal. Sean Hoare had evidence of participation of media elites in the phone tapping of murder victims, families of deceased military veterans and others in blatant privacy violations. One such person was Tory media chief Andrew Coulson, who Sean Hoare had accused of lying about phone interceptions. As evidence mounted, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Paul Stephenson and counter-terrorism officer John Yates were forced to resign.

Prior to Mr. Hoare's whistleblower testimony in September, Prime Minister's communication chief Andrew Coulson was almost off the hook for his involvement in the phone hacking scandal when reporters Clive Goodman and Glenn Mulcaire were jailed. Last week Mr. Hoare gave testimony that News of the World reporters paid police who were using mobile phones signals to track and monitor their subjects. Included in Mr. Hoare's statement was the claim that Andrew Coulson was aware and gave his approval of the phone hacking and police payments.
