Who's Watching The Neighborhood Watch?

by Peggy Lee Kennedy Saturday, Jun. 04, 2011 at 4:41 PM

Out of control and ex-con Venice Neighborhood Watch Members Promote Fear and Hate

Who's Watching The N...
stopthehate.jpg, image/jpeg, 3017x1578

The latest dirt on the Venice Neighborhood Watch is that the newest watch s/hero and queen anti-homeless blogger must have got into it with another neighborhood watch person – triggering a background check that revealed a felony conviction, among other things. Even as a felon, she is just another tool for a snitch police state culture.

The true intention of Community Policing, which is the umbrella organization for Neighborhood Watch, is to create civilian groups that directly communicate the needs of the community to the police. The end result should be that the police are more receptive to the community. It is a basically a good idea – if it were not controlled by such negativity toward poor people. The problem is that Neighborhood Watch leaders are not always picked from a diverse cross section of the community. Even if moderate people do join the local Neighborhood Watch, they may be pulled into a police snitch culture that does not foster diverse points of view.

Some of our most public Venice Neighborhood Watch figures are Boston Dawna, Alex Thompson, Rick Feibusch, and Councilman Bill Rosendahl as the big top Neighborhood Watch promoter.

Boston Dawna, aka Donna Chaet and mentor to Alex Thompson, is a woman that has crude behavior ( http://blip.tv/the-justice-committee/reactionary-hate-venice-opd-election-1822374 ) who drove or walked around Venice at all hours taking the law into her own hands apparently under the premise that some people do not have civil rights - until she moved back to Boston.

Alex Thompson, aka Alexandria Thompson (alias Amie Thompson, Amie M Thompson, Alexandreia Thompson, Alexanderia Thompson), who is a convicted felon that the LAPD allegedly has issued a police radio. Thompson is well known for stirring up community hate for homeless people or the locals who help the homeless people. She posts anti-homeless fairy stories or foul verbiage on the YoVenice blog, which has included going after our Venice Justice Committee that helps poor people being unjustly treated and cited with infractions or misdemeanors. She goes out on the street to be the cheering section when homeless disabled people loose their RV, doggies, or get arrested. She files false criminal charges and also went after Venice Neighborhood Council Board member Ivonne Guzman inappropriately. Thompson has created a snitch web site using the City’s 311 number. She is a busy little ex-con.

Rick Feibusch, aka Venice Watchdawg, also tells fairy stories on YoVenice to stir things up, like the one about our Justice Committee member being a scary Convict Parolee. Everything Feibusch said about him on YoVenice was an absolute lie. Feibusch ran with the propaganda against our Justice Committee ([blogged by Thompson) to encourage people to contact our landlords, the Venice United Methodist Church, to complain against us. All based on a hate movement founded on lies. Feibusch repeatedly states how scary all the homeless people are and how they are criminals.

Rather than empowering leaders that encourage fear and the need to increase law enforcement as a non-solution to homelessness - the city should be encouraging an increase in affordable or supportive housing and services.

The real crime is how our city is dealing with homelessness.

The majority of the homeless people I have been in contact with are not criminals. However they are criminalized by an anti-poor, fear based, pro-gentrification, quality of life, law enforcement campaign that costs tons of money and provides no real solutions. And these homeless people are not convicted felons either.

The main thing that these popular Venice Neighborhood Watch leaders have in common is that they appear to care less about basic human rights or constitutional rights when it comes to the poor, the odd, or the homeless.

Another interesting fact is that Alex Thompson and Boston Dawna were the two main witnesses (neither credible in my opinion) to that infamous RV Dumping incident August 17, 2010 – which was ground zero for a wide scale movement to tow, arrest, ticket, and harass vehicle live-aboards in Venice. All championed by Councilman Rosendahl with multiple task forces and a town hall meeting packed full of hate for the vehicle housed people and the main-stream media.

The result being an untold amount of city funds spent on hurting disabled people and yet another civil rights lawsuit ( http://freevenicebeachhead.wordpress.com/2010/12/01/lawsuit-filed-to-protect-civil-rights-of-rv-residents/ ). Then there is that $750,000 Venice monies given to a non-Venice Non-Profit to run a well-promoted Venice RV parking program with no city ordinance in sight to support the program, no Venice parking lot allocated to the program, and a Non-Profit that is continually feeding into the NIMBY agenda. Maybe they will house a few of the RV people that survived the onslaught of police activity. Any financially sane taxpaying person should feel pretty ripped off by this stuff.

Our city council person puts up a front pretending to care while riding pretty high on the tsunami wave of gentrification crashing down on Venice. Caring is not violating human and civil rights of disabled poor people. And building community does not mean co-opting people into a snitch police state culture, which is exactly what the Venice Neighborhood Council is doing at its up-coming Town Hall.

“NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH Safer Communities Block by Block” is the theme of the Town Hall June 9 at Mark Twain Middle School 7-9pm - forming MORE Neighborhood Watch groups without changing the negative, fear based, homeless hate culture.

My final questions are: Who is watching these fear promoting Neighborhood Watch people that the police and the city are empowering? And will there ever be an objective and independent community advisory to the LAPD? (Or the City for that matter.) Because even though civil rights lawsuits can be successful and the city pays out – the lawmakers, the police, and the city attorneys seem to take it in stride with no apparent repercussions – and the tax-payer bears the financial burden.

WATERSHED PROTECTION Division

Complaint inVESTIGATION Report

DATE: 8/24/2010 Time: 16:15 Hours Case ID Number: PIMS No. 13077

PURPOSE: Investigation of Illegal Dumping from a RV to Street

INSPECTORS: Howard Wong / Ernesto Garcia

INCIDENT LOCATION: 3600 Pacific Avenue, Venice

CROSS STREET: Fleet Street

REPORT:

On August 24, 2010 at approximately 1615 hours, Watershed Protection Division (WPD) Inspectors Wong and Garcia responded to a complaint regarding the illicit discharge of sanitary waste from a recreational vehicle (RV) dump in the vicinity of 3600 Pacific Avenue and Fleet Street.

The Inspectors arrived at the incident location at approximately 17:00 hours with the Bureau of Sanitations remediation contractor, Clean Harbors Environmental Services. The area is primary composed of residential housing with close proximity to the Pacific Ocean.

The inspectors were immediately confronted by various angry residents, who live in the area, regarding the previous RV spill that occurred on 8/17/2010. In addition KFI radio news media was in the area interviewing the local residents. No interviews were provided by the WPD Inspectors to any news media at the time of the investigation.

No active illicit discharge from an RV was found at the time of the investigation. An area approximately 4 feet wide by 150 feet in length was found to be contaminated with a previous RV sewage dump. A sewage odor was emitting from the liquid located in the curb storm drain. The sewage was mixed with irrigation water in the curb drain. There was no evidence that the liquid entered any storm drain catch basin at the time of the investigation.

After a safety briefing was held and traffic control established, Clean Harbors Environmental Services sanitized the contaminated area with a bleach / Pine Sol solution mixed with water and the contamination area was pressure washed. The sewage and waste water was collected and placed into (2) 55 gallon drums for disposal.

A Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest Number was generated for the clean up. Manifest Tracking Number 002045577FLE was generated for the disposal.

Los Angeles Police Department (Pacific Division) was contacted and arrived at the location as a safety measure to deal with the angry residents. The lead LAPD Officer onsite was Officer Cassetta. Inspector Wong spoke with LAPD Watch Commander Lt. Mark Day [contact number (310) 482-6335] regarding the incident. Reference Number 100824004294 was given from LAPD for the incident.

The following individuals were witnesses and/or provided information regarding the illegal dumping of sewage from the RV:

Donna Chaet

3714 Pacific Avenue Unit 14 Los Angeles CA 90292

Contact Number (310) 822-6352 and (310) 890-7996

Donna stated, she witnessed an RV on the night of August 17, 2010 at approximately between 22:30 to 23:00 hours located across the street from her apartment, parked facing the wrong direction, noticed someone getting out of the RV, after hearing a pop, she witnessed someone removing the cap to the sewage tank, she heard fluid being discharged onto the street curb gutter, the fluid ended up being sewage and shit from the RV. She also stated that, the driver looked male in his 60s. The RV pulled away leaking the sewage material on the street. She contacted LAPD to file a complaint report and to make a citizens complaint.

Alexandria Thompson

Contact Number (310) 463-1311

Local resident and neighborhood watch person had specific information regarding this incident. She provided the RVs license plate number 4EQM810 that dumped the sewage. She was one of the individuals who contacted the local City Council in the area and file a complaint.

Stacy Bratcher

Contact Number (310) 528-5547

Local resident noticed the liquid sewage on the curb gutter / storm drain on August 18, 2010 but was not sure who to contact to file a complaint.

At 19:30 hours, the clean-up operation was completed and the crews responded to a second illegal dumping incident location at 3rd Avenue and Rose in Venice.

Inspector Wong contacted the California Emergency Management Agency to file a Hazardous Materials Spill Report regarding the incident. Cal EMA control number 10-5091 was given for reference.

How Dare They

by Tom Teriffic Tuesday, Jun. 07, 2011 at 5:47 AM

How dare these people try to have a clean neighborhood. They should embrace the homeless, in fact, why don't you just open your neighborhood to them and solve the problem since you don't seem to have a problem with people dumping shit into the street.
