RAC-LA May Day 2011-Calling All RAC-LA Supporters

by RAC-LA Friday, Apr. 29, 2011 at 9:21 PM

Comrades, May Day 2011 will mark the 4th anniversary of the Police Riot in MacArthur park wherein the LAPD assaulted our people petitioning for our human rights.

Comrades,

May Day 2011 will mark the 4th anniversary of the Police Riot in MacArthur park wherein the LAPD assaulted our people petitioning for our human rights.

RAC-LA was formed as a continuing response to this and all brutality directed against the migrants, the poor, the jobless, the working poor and the homeless.

For 3 1/2 years RAC-LA has assisted the community around MacArthur Park in helping to feed ourselves while developing the base for a revolutionary, non-hierarchical organizational response to capitalism, nationalism, imperialism, racism--in short--all the oppressions facing mankind and prohibiting us from exercising our right to live as human beings.

Come celebrate with us and help while we fashion the baskets of food that we will and have distributed for over 175 straight Sundays:

Every Sunday 12:00-3:00pm

MacArthur Park– ParkView St. Btwn Wilshire + 7th

Opposite the uCLA Labor Center

In addition to our normal 'Food Program" ("La Programa de Comida") there will be a health presentation along w immigrant and renters' rights. In addition there will be music and food and pinatas for the children.

For RAC-LA
JAI

What Is The Food Program?

Every Sunday, we organize ourselves to give away free food to our community in MacArthur Park. For 3+ years, we have helped more than 100 families each week with a large basket full of vegetables, fruits, bread, rice, and beans.

People arrive between 12-1pm to get a number, and the baskets are given out between 2-3pm. While you are waiting, you can help us prepare the baskets. The more the people help, we can get better quality baskets faster.

Everything is FREE, but we ask for a small donation for the rice and beans.

Who Does The Food Program?

RAC-LA (Revolutionary Autonomous Communities-LA) is a group made up of diverse volunteers fighting for self-sufficiency, helping the community, learning to survive, and sharing and organizing to improve our situation under the conditions in which we live.

Why The Food Program?

We see this effort as part of our work for the survival of our communities. We are building an autonomous network where we depend on mutual aid from one another, rather than depending on the capitalist model which turns human beings into consumers. Our Food Program has been a base to build other projects such as a garden, an exercise program, and making our own tshirts and soaps.

RAC-LA(Revolutionary Autonomous Communities-LA, 혁명과 자주의 공동체- L.A.)

The Food Program(식량 프로그램)
