KPFK STANDS ON EDGE OF ABYSS: CONSPIRACY FANATIC A GM FINALIST

by Concerned About KPFK Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at 7:19 PM

KPFK is one of the left’s few major assets in Southern California, and now that asset may be under serious threat.

KPFK is one of the left’s few major assets in Southern California, and now that asset may be under serious threat. It is being reported that one of three finalists for the position of General Manager at KPFK is current Senior Producer Christine Blosdale. Blosdale is well known for pioneering the most discredited conspiracy-theory laden programming at KPFK, consistently promoting fundraising “thank-you gifts” that are journalistically questionable. Now, the small measure of credibility that the station has retained in spite of Blosdale, is in danger of being lost.

For example, many reports of the recent gruesome Arizona shooting have revealed that the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, was influenced by a film that Blosdale heavily promoted on KPFK’s airwaves some years back, called Zeitgeist made by Peter Joseph. Joseph (who apparently does not use his real name) calls himself the leader of the “Zeitgeist movement.” His film features Ron Paul, a favorite of many libertarians and conservatives. The film also makes unproven claims about a government cover-up of the 9-11 attacks, and how a secret group of bankers and elites is controlling the world – both paradigms are favored on the extreme right as well as the extreme left, and are standard Blosdale fare.

It is also known that Blosdale runs her own Public Relations business called Good Karma PR (www.goodkarmapr.com). Aside from the obvious conflicts of interest inherent in a journalist running a PR side business, is a disturbing fact that Blosdale routinely provides paid services for people who make appearances on the KPFK shows she produces, who’s films are routinely used as thank you gifts, or whose events are sponsored by KPFK. In a nut shell, one can buy an appearance on KPFK, score a contract selling your products to KPFK, or get publicity for your event at KPFK by hiring their Senior Producer on the side. Several people have done just that, according to Good Karma PR’s own website: Dylan Avery, director of the 9-11 conspiracy film “Loose Change,” and William Rodriguez, whose speaking tour was organized by Blosdale’s company and then sponsored by KPFK. Good Karma PR even boasts about the unethical connection between the company and KPFK on the website regarding Roseanne Barr’s stint hosting a show at the station: “we created the press release announcing her radio show on KPFK 90.7FM!” The fact that Pacifica has not seen fit to immediately halt this blatant form of the illegal activity that the FCC calls “payola” is shocking.

Blosdale has been the single biggest influence on KPFK’s descent into conspiracy theories on issues that have been thoroughly discredited (chemtrails, JFK’s assassination, dangers of vaccines, etc). She has also turned the station into a personal cash cow for her side-business. The fact that she remains employed at KPFK makes no sense. The fact that she is one of three finalists for the most powerful position at KPFK is a travesty of whatever process their Board and Pacifica’s mangement used to arrive at this sorry state. KPFK listeners should beware what lies ahead for the last vestiges of sanity on KPFK if Blosdale is hired as General Manager.

Zeitgeist is terrible

by mous Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at 9:37 PM

I thought it was pretty bogus and have been dismayed at how popular it's become. I'm totally sympathetic with all the three themes: religions are similar, 9/11 facts are probably being kept secret, and large banks have excessive power. But the film: what a mess. It's not reality-based.

Anyone willing to actually research any of the particulars of each of the assertions in the video quickly discovers that each point is either a conspiracy theory, some numerology, some right-wing alarmist book, or a misinterpretation.

I sometimes wonder if it's innate in people to want to believe in something that's not proven. I mean, I do it myself. Indeed belief is the basis for hope. It's just, when that urge is used to foster a belief in falsehoods, it becomes another disempowering distraction.

I enjoy some conspiracy theory. I love Roy of Hollywood's show. But take it with a big grain of salt, and open a book or surf the web to find more detailed research outside of the circle of conspiracy theorists. The search for truth must not be obscured by an insistent belief in an unproven explanation.

Blosdale is a stupid right-winger

by Mandolin Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 1:41 AM

Whenever I hear Blosdale on KPFK, it's not just a parade of absurd conspiracy theories, but it's all the right-wing nut job talking points. She should go work for Glen Beck.

what 'theory'?

by Roger Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 6:54 AM

"and how a secret group of bankers and elites is controlling the world "
It's not a theory...
The banksters in London and NYC actually do sit at the center of the dark web as seen by the congress and it's servants who are led by the nose to dance to their tune of looting the American people.
This piece of meandering scree actually is unable to prove any of the 'criticisms' it espouses. It is gossip.

Blosdale spells DISASTER for KPFK

by longtime listener Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 7:42 PM

KPFK has always offered the promise of a sane, alternative and rational voice to the corporate owned mainstream media. With Blosdale as GM the truthers and quacks would dominate the airwaves, ignoring the real crises we face and need to address. It would signal the end of KPFK’s association with a left alternative.

"truthers and quacks "

by Roger Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 7:57 PM

it seems the insults are flying freely because some interested parties are worried that KPFK will no longer view the truth movement as "quacks" to actually show light on a forbidden subject:
The event of 11 Sept '01 and Israel's critical involvement in this act of terrorism in order to have American blood split for that shitty little state of psychopathic racists....
That's who is worried about Blosdale and KPKK

What's worse, ignoring a "conspiracy" or getting into bed with fascists?!?

by STOP flirtation with fascism Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 10:50 PM

If you want to talk about "psycopathic racists," how about the fact that Blosdale's "heroes," who she regularly features on KPFK, represent right-wing, racist views that stand against everything Pacifica has stood for in its 60 years??

Aaron Russo, who made "Freedom to Fascism," a DVD Blosdale featured during fund drives, was so virulently anti-immigration he supported platforms virtually indistinguishable from the Tea Party:
http://carolmoore.net/libertarianparty/badnarik2004/immigration.html

G Edward Griffin, star of the new chemtrails video Blosdale is so hot to promote, is a member of the John Birch Society!
http://www.jbs.org/robert-welch

What scares me about the whole Truther thing AND their super aggressive push to get their views on KPFK is that the people who do so are SO into it that they FORGET EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH ANYONE OR ANYTHING ELSE RELATED TO SOCIAL JUSTICE - they will excuse all sorts of racist, right-wing, free market agendas that target and threaten poor people and communities of color - who Pacificans should be defending first and foremost!

You want to talk conspiracy?? Defending and pushing these right-wing maniacs at the expense of everyone else and all other principles of peace and justice is EXACTLY everything that Whitey could hope for beyond his wildest dreams. If I were an COINTELPRO agent, I couldn't think of a better way to destroy a bastion of alternative media and social justice like Pacifica, than by throwing support behind Blosdale and getting in bed with her right wing buddies.

Anti-Semitic support for Blosdale not surprising

by Mandolin Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at 9:51 AM

Hopefully the anti-Semitic post above will be hidden (we can't let this dialogue deteriorate), but it's very telling that Blosdale's supporters are raging bigots.

This is not a joke. Blosdale represents the far right taking over KPFK.

Look at the Good Karma website. Yes, there are some liberals like Asner, Rosanne, and McKinney, but they are all Truthers. Having famous liberals provides cover. The less famous people she represents are primarily from the libertarian, bigoted right, or are total whackos like David Icke (also considered anti-semetic).

Where does Blosdale decide to hold her screening of Loose Change? At the far right Grenada forum, home turf of the John Birch Society creeps for
decades.

Wake up people, this is serious, KPFK is about to be taken over by bigots and fools.

No! I love lots of the programs on KPFK.... and then once in a while you get Christine Blosdale going manic on the radio about 9/11 conspiracy movies or crazy cancer-curing berry juice and its like listening to the station in a parallel universe - one were facts don't matter. And I went to her PR site - a bunch of her clients are conspiracy theorists too! (And then there is Rosanne but apparently Christine worked with Roseanne at KPFK so I don't know what's going on there.)

I love KPFK for being a haven for Lefty ideas, it got me through the mid 2000s. But its already a little crazy-town over there sometimes, and I hate to think it will devolve into a fringe radio station. Then I'll be stuck with only NPR news.

The Left in LA needs KPFK. They cover protests and activism. Glad this got posted - if anyone is listening, just say No to Christine!

Your Attacks Are Disgusting

by more_love_in_this_world Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at 9:14 AM

WOW. The person who posted this original message is well versed in cointel pro lingo.

Lets start with part of the title shall we?..."CONSPIRACY FANATIC A GM FINALIST"...Wow, Fanatic? really? I've heard Christine on the air and she is not a fanatic about anything...she has reasonable questions about 9/11 as any journalist should do when they see something wrong with the official story.

But then Mr Concerned About KPFK gets especially vicious by equating the gifts she offers in fundrives with enciting violence...again a classic cointel move and something I've heard Ian Masters repeat ad nauseum...

"For example, many reports of the recent gruesome Arizona shooting have revealed that the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, was influenced by a film that Blosdale heavily promoted on KPFK’s airwaves some years back, called Zeitgeist.."

TO EQUATE THE VIOLENT ACTIONS OF A DERANGED YOUNG MAN TO A PACIFIST LIKE MS. BLOSDALE IS JUST DISGUSTING!

I heard Loughner was also obsessed with Donnie Darko and smoked pot...using your twisted logic, maybe you should blame Drew Barrymore and a pot brownie for the bloodshed in Arizona.

Simply put, your arguments against this woman (whom you obviosuly loathe) are sad and pathetic...and you sound just like Ian Masters.

Free Speech Applies to Blosdale!

by JFK, vaccine risks NOT discredited! Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at 7:41 AM

"Concerned about KPFK" wrote;

"Blosdale has been the single biggest influence on KPFK’s descent into conspiracy theories on issues that have been thoroughly discredited (chemtrails, JFK’s assassination, dangers of vaccines, etc)."

NONE of the above theories have been "thoroughly discredited" other than the consistant ad hominem attacks against ANYONE (leftist or rightist) who wishes further serious dialogue about these issues.

We have an issue with the status quo of borderline psychotic skeptics who refuse to discuss the science behind the risks of vaccines, chemtrails, physics of 9/11 towers collapse and the JFK assassination being more than "one lone nut". Instead the professional skeptics use ad hominem attacks on individuals who dare to discuss these and other covered up issues to discredit, not discuss.

Most professional skeptics have very little background in the sciences and thus cannot actually debate the theories presented as "conspiracy", so ad hominem attacks become the simplest way to silence the dialogue;

"Anyone who disagrees with Obama's health care plans is a racist."

Is one example of ad hominem attacks used by establishment neoliberals to discredit ANY opposition to state mandated healthcare programs.

Likewise;

"Anyone who thinks that 9/11 was engineered by the government is a right wing racist who thinks like Glenn Beck."

This sort of ad hominem attack engineered by professional skeptics serves to link 9/11 truth conspiracy theorists with other media icons like Beck who give an appearance of being a conspiracy theorist. Yet Glenn Beck himself attacks 9/11 truthers on his FOX NEWS show, so it seems like 9/11 truthers will need to bear ad hominem attacks from BOTH the establishment neoliberals and the neoconservatives.

BTW - There was great outcry of discontent raised on sister station WBAI upon the return of Gary Null, an outspoken opponent of the neoliberal AND neoconservative status quo.

Gary Null has discredited the opposition to Dr. Andrew Wakefield on his radio show, thus the previously published reports on risks of vaccines causing autism remains fact.

Statement From Dr. Andrew Wakefield: No Fraud. No Hoax. No Profit Motive.

January 24, 2011

"AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 13, 2011 -- Dr. Andrew Wakefield issued the following statement today on the recent British Medical Journal articles:

"The British Medical Journal and reporter Brian Deer recently alleged that my 1998 research paper was 'a hoax' and 'an elaborate fraud' and that my motivation was profit.

"I want to make one thing crystal clear for the record – my research and the serious medical problems found in those children were not a hoax and there was no fraud whatsoever. Nor did I seek to profit from our findings.

"I stand by the Lancet paper's methodology and the results which call for more research into whether environmental triggers cause gastrointestinal disease and developmental regression in children. In fact, despite media reports to the contrary, the results of my research have been duplicated in five other countries (to see citations to studies, visit http://tinyurl.com/4hrdt5y.)

"It is not unexpected to see poor reporting and misinformation coming from Brian Deer, the lead reporter of the recent BMJ coverage. But to see coverage in other media that cites Deer's shoddy journalism in the BMJ as a final justification to claim there is no link between vaccines and autism is ludicrous. The MMR is only one vaccine of the eleven vaccinations on the pediatric schedule that has been studied for causing developmental problems such as autism. That is fact, not opinion. Any medical professional, government official or journalist who states that the case is closed on whether vaccines cause autism is jumping to conclusions without the research to back it up.

"I continue to fully support more independent research to determine if environmental triggers, including vaccines, are causing autism and other developmental problems. The current rate of autism is 1 in 110 children in the United States and 1 in 64 children in the U.K. My goal has always been and will remain the health and safety of children. Since the Lancet paper, I have lost my job, my career and my country. To claim that my motivation was profit is patently untrue. I will not be deterred - this issue is far too important."

Truthseekers will NOT be silenced!!

the 'right wing' and 'left wing' are constructs to help very simple minds deal with these pre-packaged labels.
The real problem are the weasels who are intent upon using these labels to divide the American people who are now serving the interests of a foreign state to their great sorrow..
Actually none of the groups you cast allegations towards have near the corrosive effect as the overwhelming corruption and espionage the Israel lobby and AIPAC has committed but I suspect that you will never address this fact.
If we were to eject all the dual Israeli citizens in our government and the Fed, we could have a golden age without all this synthetic terror and criminality.
And KPFK has served the radical right since they became the host to
Ian Masters and his spook cadre of zionist weasels who parrot the official"conspiracy theory" and the racist Lila Garrett, who wrote
"Hail to the Jews"

the truth is not "anti-Semitic"
In fact, the term has no meaning concerning the criminal enterprise of Israel which is waging genocide to the Semitic Palestinian people there. From an invasion of non-Semitic colonists.
This is just another example of the zionist fear of the loss of their strangle hold on the media.
And the fear of their involvement in the terror of 11 Sept '01 becoming known. 30 billion a year of our support to that rat state makes their command of information critical.

Like research into the events of 11 Sept '01 who they assert are a bunch conspiracy theorists,
The CIA, Mossad, and their friends like Ian Masters, fear the light into these events while a serious researchers are equated to "a little crazy-town" using no evidence to discredit them.
What's crazy is the belief that anyone believes the government's conspiracy theory, when none of it holds up to any examination, whatsoever. None of it.
This really frightens the zionists at KPFK.

Christine is more than imperfect but....

by KPFK stakeholder too Saturday, Feb. 05, 2011 at 2:14 PM

Christine is intense, passionate on air, vehement and at times pushes her views or opinions as if they were the ONLY TRUTH around...not so

there is no 1 single only valid divinely-given-holy etc. truth, tho many do claim such

even science is constantly being corrected, revised and sometimes not-able-to-be-replicated even

even religions try to shift with the times to keep their "flock" following them obediently

and political opinions ? well the often loud Believers of whatever VIEWS they love best - shift and twist and spin and turn and try to GET POWER for their claimants thru framing, clever use of words & language and much propaganda & exhortations too.

as for Christine Blosdale, is is devoted to HER VERSION of her beliefs of her truth and is not a "bad" person when you do talk to her in person...try it...you may find her more open-minded at times, able to discuss courteously any topic, regardless of differences.

Who ELSE IS UP FOR GEN'L MGR OF KPFK ?

who decides who is qualified ?

is there a probationary period of this prime position ?

How are the winners kept accountable ?

And why not have a variety, like this one or not, up for the position if it is a group-decision, hoping for the best in that conflict-ridden contradictory-and-sometimes-hypocritical sacred radio station titled "KPFK" ?

Last GM left quickly, and some wonder if it is because of the difficulty of always being in the 'line of fire' cuz there are always those who Totally KNOW everything and are always RIGHT and competitively want more power, position and programs too on-air .

Or is it also because Christine is OUTSPOKEN, a white looking female, a strong character, and not an follower of a particular group/ viewpoint/ clan ???

what is really being discussed here?

Gender neutral names of writers ? Jealous or angered venters ? Honest appraising KPFK contributors? or easy-to-criticize-hard-to-do-more-of-the-work-needed people ?

who are these commentators above ? huh ?

hidden

by mous Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at 4:34 AM

I think they were hidden because they sound like anti-Jewish conspiracy theory.

Also, just my opinion here about "911 truth". I tend to think that there's some kind of coverup of what happened to the WTC. However, i think that the 9/11 truthers are not being objective in the least. The movement emerged very shortly after the planes few into the towers, and developed an elaborate set of theories very quickly, seemingly with the goal of justifying the idea that Bush orchestrated the attack (or that it was all a hoax).

And they also named it "911 truth", as if their version was indubitably the truth.

This is like a "faith based" movement, or a cult, because participation in the movement requires a leap of faith to believe their theory.

Now, that said, I think it's important that some 9/11 orgs like the engineers and architects keep pushing for more info. Clearly, the government wanted to seal the information away quickly. The 911 commission didn't dig too deep. We need all the information revealed, and soon.

My guess is that it's not an inside job, but there is some conspiracy involving the US and allies in the middle east, and that a deep investigation would reveal that information, in the middle of a war. But, that's just as speculative as anything else. Without real information, we can't know anything.

Also, I know that there is an important minority of scientifically inclined people who are upset about KPFK's entertaining patently anti-science, anti-intellectual programming. This is stuff like the new age programming, but also the health stuff when it really goes into quackery.

These shows are popular, partly, because they are basically 'faith-based' - people just believe because they want solutions to their problems, and have a faith in science-like explanations. They might not really be able to distinguish between real and fake science.

For a while, they had shows about ionized water or something like that. Water with energy. It was fascinating. They didn't discuss "heavy water" or anything from science that pertained to the topic.

The same goes for other subjects, too, like the material covered in the Zeitgeist movie. That thing was a mess, and very wrong on many points, but people are excessively ignornant, and buy the erroneous information presented in the film.

It seems like everyone's postmodern nowadays. That's good, except that to function in a less hierarchical, less authority-driven world, you need a strong foundation of scientific, historic, and economic information. That's just what's required - you can't outsource that to the power structure. The problem, of course, is that we aren't that smart. We aren't that educated. In fact, we're really fucking stupid on so many levels, that any "easy" explanation has a lot of appeal.

I have little hope that things will improve soon. We have creationists in Congress, and the same kind of people up and down the back-office. Our so-called leaders have these delusional ideas about how the humans rode dinosaurs.

the questions asked have never been answered...instead divertionary topics have been included in this 'line of fire' w/o addressing the topic =

is Christine a good candidate for GM or not ?

Who else is being considered, competing ?

if yes or not, give factual information of why yes or no. ?

No biased blathering vendettas and wild diatribe accusations, please !

about what accountability there is for a GM?

how does the search-group select a GM for KPFK ?
what criteria are used and who devises the criteria?

who this group is and how they were chosen to do the choosing ?

DOES NO ONE READING THIS SITE KNOW ANYTHING ACTUAL ?

venting and exhorting seems to be the common passtimes
instead of sharing information, responding to questions, or
giving resources where the answers may lie.

why is Indy predisposed to being a 'loud' blathering argumentative site only ?

what a waste of good space.

Re: Christine is more than imperfect but....

by Terry Goodman Wednesday, Mar. 09, 2011 at 10:47 AM
tgoodman4@roadrunner.com

On Friday, Feb. 04, 2011 at 2:14 PM, "KPFK stakeholder" asked:

"Who ELSE IS UP FOR GEN'L MGR OF KPFK ?"

Every candidate who applied for the position in response to public job postings was considered. Since the identity of applicants is kept confidential to avoid creating problems with their current employers, Blosdale's candidacy must be considered rumor unless she confirmed it herself.

"who decides who is qualified ?"

The desired candidate qualifications were in the job postings and reflect the existing job description and any adjustments worked out between the search committee and the Pacifica HR Director (since departed). Pursuant to the Pacifica Bylaws, the KPFK GM search committee was appointed by the KPFK Local Station Board. That committee reviewed all the applications and chose a pool of candidates to recommend to the Executive Director. The ED then scheduled interviews with the committee-approved finalists and made her selection. At the Pacifica National Board meeting on February 27th, Arlene Engelhardt reported that an offer had been made and accepted for the KPFK GM position, but that there were "obstacles" that still needed to be overcome, so she did not name the selected candidate or announce a start date.

"is there a probationary period of this prime position ?"

Yes. I believe all Pacifica General Managers are subject to a six-month period of probation after hire.

"How are the winners kept accountable ?"

A station GM may be dismissed upon the joint agreement of the Executive Director and the Local Station Board.

"And why not have a variety, like this one or not, up for the position if it is a group-decision, hoping for the best in that conflict-ridden contradictory-and-sometimes-hypocritical sacred radio station titled "KPFK" ?"

The Pacifica General Manager candidate pools referred for Executive Director final decision typically are diverse.

"Last GM left quickly, and some wonder if it is because of the difficulty of always being in the 'line of fire' cuz there are always those who Totally KNOW everything and are always RIGHT and competitively want more power, position and programs too on-air ."

Sean Heitkemper served for close to a year and showed up as a temporary consultant at KPFA many months later. It was clear when he was hired at KPFK that Heitkemper's broadcasting career would go beyond Pacifica.

Loughner & Zeitgeist

by Joseph Matthew Sunday, Mar. 13, 2011 at 4:28 PM

Loughner & Zeitgeist hmm...

Let's look at the facts here.

1) A movie cannot make someone do anything; it can be influential in an overarching condition of instability. Just like wheat bread can be influential or any random thing can be influential.

2) The Zeitgeist Movement & films strongly re-enforce non-violence. It is a core tenant of the movement.

3) The so called "interview" was between someone claiming to be Loughner's "best friend" though clearly states he hasn't had contact with him in over 2 years.

4) Someone claiming to know what motivated Loughner's attack hasn't seen him in over 2 years.

5) The Zeitgeist films are strongly anti-mass media & this "report" came from a mass-media source.

Conclusion: Making the connection between the two is pure propaganda.

By default, would expect your site to have more integrity than this article shows... :(

Those who question what happened on 9/11 should not be labeled "Conspiracy Theorists" There are very good reasons to be skeptical about what occurred on 9/11. Why are those who ask these questions always attacked as "conspiracy theorists"? Thank goodness Christine Blosdale has provided a different perspective and one that can not be heard anywhere else on any radio broadcast. Americans who question what happened on 9/11 are patriotic and it is their right and responsibility to question what happened because the story told by the mainstream media does not make sense..

Balance

by Gj Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at 2:37 AM

Ms Blosdale is a hustler, and I say that with some measure of admiration. She is very likely the most productive fund-raiser at KPFK due to her thorough grasp of modern marketing. Her methods are bound to have some degree of popularity with the other broadcasters because those methods (pre-recorded pitches) alleviate them of the tedious work of live fundraising. None of this bothers me particularly, but if you are donating in order to get the premium you should exercise good judgment about the likely efficacy of a particular "informational" product. So far, so good for the station, which must generate revenue to exist, especially difficult in a bad economy.

But it became apparent to me recently while listening to regular programming that the station's signal has been converted to a PR tool for some possibly well-intentioned business interests and the corrupting influence of money has been permitted a limited presence on the station. I am not entirely comfortable with the conflicts of interest posed thereby, but they are nothing compared with the absolute propagandist nature of commercial broadcasts.

As to Ms Blosdale's political affiliations, most of us do not confuse her politically diverse guests or interviewees with KPFK's stated mission or demonstrably working class perspective. I am not afraid of Ron Paul, though I disagree with him vehemently on most issues. But I welcome an opportunity to coalesce with people of ALL political persuasions on issues about which we can agree, and I believe we need MORE communication with alienated people of all political stripes in order to inform ourselves about them while filling gaps in their own grasp of reality, and thereby tempering their outlook with our own liberal and progressive sensibilities. The left and right tend to meet at the extremes precisely because centrism demands the exclusion of any views which challenge its predominance, especially when those views expose awful things tolerated gladly by those supporting the status quo. If we are ever to achieve popular power as a majority it will have to be by coalition with ALL those who have been shoved into political ideologies which they must, at some point, inevitably find lacking verity, humanity and spiritual fulfillment. I interact regularly with Republicans and Libertarians on Facebook and have lost my fear of people of good will who have been misinformed by their political leaders. Many of them can be useful allies in the current rather desperate political circumstances, especially the Libertarians, who tend to hold sound positions on civil liberties. Kucinich and Nader have both worked with Ron Paul.

I welcome a diversity of views presented just so long as free and open debate is permitted. I trust the KPFK audience has the intellectual depth to sift the wheat from the chaff given reasonable exposure to contending views. Those who cry that somebody may stop being liberal or stop contributing because they heard something on KPFK that they believe lacks credibility are suffering from a form of insecurity or are attempting to stop Ms Blosdale from exposing something they would rather you didn't know.

Personally, I find the stultified establishment oriented presentation of opinion found on Mr. Master's now daily broadcasts to be more threatening to the free flow of information, as he indulges at every opportunity in frenzied and dire warnings that KPFK is an unreliable source, thereby alienating potential listeners. He demonstrates the ad hominem technique par excellence, and should probably stay above the fray or else have a live debate with those at the station with whom he disagrees. I have yet to hear him take any of his extensive time to definitively debunk the claims made by 911 Truthers, so I must suspect he is unable to.

If Ms Blosdale ends up running the station it will probably be a good thing for revenues while bringing a wider range of opinion to the listeners. I really don't think she's going to turn it into a Libertarian mouthpiece. We would all be running for the exits if that were to occur.

Old Thread

by mous Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at 1:27 PM

This is a year old thread.

I don't think libertarians need more media attention, and not at KPFK either. You already have people like John Stossel who used to get PRIME TIME on a MAJOR NETWORK to push his ideology. Ten minutes on ABC is like a week of programming on KPFK. Now Stossel has a full show on a Fox cable station. The libertarian think tank Cato was initially funded by one of those Koch brothers who everyone's hating right now.

On public radio, libertarians basically have Freakonomics Radio and Marketplace, and sometimes This American Life in tiny bits (TAL is more leftist than libertarian).

Leftists have Amy Goodman, on cable. It's great stuff, but much less reach.

And the far left? A couple hours on KPFK and some other indie stations.

The big challenge to leftist thought (and of leftist thought) is that it's a challenge to the economic underpinning of society. It challenges neoliberalism, market-oriented policy, and private property. It's basically dissing the rich. So, always, the genuine "class war" left has always been poor, and has always had trouble raising money.

Libertarianism embraces wealth. You can be sure if you give libertarians air time, they'll donate money, because it's a philosophy that attracts the rich (and when someone becomes wealthy, libertarian thought often grows in appeal). Give comfort to the wealthy, and you will be rewarded. But you have to embrace wealth. You have to become an organ for the rich. You have to sell out and undermine the class war, and freedom for the future generations.

Blosdale is amazing

Christine Blosdale is amazing. If you were not able to hear the ring of truth or see the lies before you, in the material she has presented, you are deaf and blind.

Christine was put in charge of raising money for the station.

I say job well done.

How much money has that story alone brought to the benefit of our stations. How anyone after this mountain of proof still can not see big picture is astonishing. I think anyone who can't see this has no business being part of the Station.

On this subject we have to be clear. There is no middle ground. Your in or your waiting to get in.

But thanks to the good work of KPFK, and Christine I believe that there are more people who can see the clear line of conspiracy and corruption through the Bush Bloodline all the way back to the first conquest of Palestine.

911 was a controlled demolition, and part of the largest conspiracies against humanity. Followed by cold blooded murder of thousands of regular folks who just happened to live in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the Middle East.

Thanks to Ms. Blosdale I was able to tie all the pieces together but only after doing a lot of my own research.

But has anyone heard Christine Blosedale complain about her job ?

by KPFK questionner Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at 12:43 PM

The liking or not of this hard-working woman, she is openly complaining about being used too much during pledge drives and criticizing the interim program director for "being lazy" [ this was repeatedly stated ] and repeating her recorded promos on air.

At Jan 2014 LSB meeting, the room of full ...of programmers, some paid staff and public members of KPFK as well as the full LSB quorum for a change. The question was why did all these people suddenly decide to show up to an LSB meeting when they do NOT COME to these more often or seldom ?

the public comments made by public, staff and programmers all seemed to focus on the iPD who may or not be changed. The actual info about what is going on inside the deep bowels of OUR RADIO STATION KPFK is elusive, secret, hidden, unavailable and distorted. What is happening comes out in various versions.

So Christine spoke more than once about how she did not want to be on the air so much during fund drives and by implication was maligning or criticizing or dismissing the program director...who seemed to be the subject of the day.

Altho it is notable that NOT ONE PERSON AT THE LSB MEETING OPENLY STATED OR DECLARED OR REVEALED what was happening, to the gen'l mgr, the iPD, the staff that may be moved around if major management changes do happen or when...no one said aloud what was going on !!!! They all gave their own promos and alliances and negative criticisms of people they did not want or like or wanted to replace maybe ? whatever

Christine has been on the air and behind the scenes for a while. She may be liked or not, for she barely interacts with any volunteers during their free-work-time-efforts during $$$ pledge drives that take up much too much air time, all the time.
She may be "too busy" or considered "unfriendly" or self-protective but she is not open or present to all who would just like maybe proof they too exist in the KPFK world in the same room she has entered, done her business, and exited. without a glance at anyone but those she knows. So that may create a bit of distrust of her ways and a dislike of her exclusionary ways.

If she is not doing the work required or set for her job title, that needs to be clarified, explained and revealed....the work is more important than the friendliness, tho team work would be a part of any evaluation, especially by strangers on Indymedia.

That Christine has gained power as union shop leader at KPFK and as a long time worker there may mean she can do and say what she wants w/o expecting retaliations. That she is not an angel or the sweet thing is also notable. That Christine is just a woman working a job and may be moved over or moved up or want to leave that job is not for anyone of us to discuss or interfere with.

Like anything that we DO NOT KNOW but only have rumors or maligned exhortations on any blogs, media sites, means we run with the little we learn and get the wrong impressions with no one knowing more correcting us....sadly.

If anyone does KNOW actual information relevant to her work at KPFK, please reveal it to the rest of us here so we wont be misled and saying what we know little about, as if we knew more.

the secrecy and non-transparency of all that happens in and around KPFK leads to so much bad-mouthing and bad-writing that it is 'their' own fault for hiding behind hypocritical facades.
