The city of Irvine, Ca dedicated the US's first and only memorial to ongoing war ever constructed.
Memorializing the more than 5K dead mercs from the Iraq / Afghan occupation, there is space for 8K names. The memorial will be updated yearly with the names of new mercs.

No need to wait for chronic wars to be lost before carving granite, in the new world order.
The memorial also includes the names of at least one suicide death, according to OC Register reports. This is unprecedented in the history of US war memorials.
