ELECTION UPDATES: PRAYERS, MITING DE AVANCES AND ARMED CLASHES

Los Angeles— Filipinos and Filipino Americans are excited about the elctions in the Philippines two days from now.

Prayer meetings, masses, miting de avances and arms distribution became the order of the day in the Philippines. In the United States. Masses and prayer meetings of different candidates for a peaceful elections were held everywhere.

Foreign Observers

The so called ND forces in the US joined up with LP starwart and former NAFFAA president Loida Nicolas Lewis ( who is actively campaigning for the NoyMAr ticket) to the Philippines to observe the elections. BAYAN-Canada is also sending their observes.

Meanwhile their comrades with MAKABAYAN are campaigning for Manny Villar of the NP. The Satur Ocampo and Liza maza tandem has been unde fire for their support for many Villar and the NP. Politics really produces strange bed-fellows.

More than 500 reporters are in the Philippines to watch the developments in the May 10 elections. This as the Armed Forces of the Philippines has started fielding more than 7,300 soldiers in Metro Manila even as it declared 10 cities in the capital region as election “hotspots.”

Armed Clashes and Trouble Spots

According to EPCC NEWS and BANTAY PILIPINAS texters in the Philippines, politicians are arming their forces and deliberately ignoring the gun ban. PESANTE NEWS also learned that the airport are packed with supporters of candidates from LA who are trying to get out of Manila due to the

situation.

The situation turned to the worst when 78,000 PCOS machines cocked out and and there was a call for manual elections to the COMELEC. PGMA's lawyers have formally called for a postponement of elections for the next two weeks.

Armed clashes were reported in Cagayan, Isabela, Abra, Davao and Surigao.

The cities of Pasay, Manila, Parañaque, Pasig, Makati, Valenzuela, Malabon, Marikina, Caloocan and Quezon have been included in the military’s “election watchlist of areas,” said AFP spokesperson Lt. Col. Arnulfo Burgos Jr.

Binay Overtakes Roxas

Latest BANTAY PILIPINAS text reports that Mayor Jojo Binay has overtaken Mar Roxas in the latest SWS survey. This made Roxas to fly back to Capiz to tend his backyard in Panay against Binay onslaught.

Meanwhile internal surveys shows that Villar will win by 600,000 votes over his nearest rival ( Aquino or Teodoro) . But BANTAY sources reported that Aquino is still ahead in surverys in Cagayan, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya.

The reported COMELEC and SMARTMATIC non delivery of machines to 30 provinces known as LP bailwicks makes people nervous. Villar reported to have said he will respect the results of the elections if is fair. But he also warned that he will fight if he is cheated.
