FULL-PAGE AD COMPARING NAZI TREATMENT OF JEWS TO ARIZONA’S NEW IMMIGRATION LAW 1070 TO APPEAR THIS WEEK IN THE PHOENIX NEW TIMES NEWSPAPER; CALLS FOR A REGIME CHANGE IN ARIZONA

See R.E.M.’s “AZ1070” ad at http://www.responsibleeducationandmedia.org/az1070.html

PHOENIX, AZ: In response to the signing of Arizona Senate Bill 1070 last week, a new ad is set to run this week in Phoenix depicting Governor Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Nazi uniforms with the message, “We Need A Regime Change.” The ad, placed by the nonprofit group Responsible Education and Media (R.E.M.), will appear in the Phoenix New Times beginning Thursday, April 29.

The SB 1070 is a controversial new anti-immigration law signed by Brewer on April 23, making illegal immigration a state crime and allowing law enforcement officers to inquire into the immigration status of any person within the state. Individuals found to not have valid identification are subject to arrest and may be charged with violating this new law.

“While Governor Brewer claims that this new law will not sanction racial profiling, in its real world application it will undoubtedly lead to legalized discrimination and persecution,” states Craig Rosebraugh, a second year law student at Arizona State University and spokesperson of R.E.M. “The Governor had the opportunity to veto this bill and to work towards providing an innovative and progressive solution to the immigration issue. Unfortunately, she decided to instead resort to the dark ages of Nazi Germany.”

R.E.M. is urging the public to contact the Arizona Attorney General’s office and the U.S. Department of Justice and encourage both agencies to bring suit against this new law on both state and federal constitutional grounds.

“Already this State has been shamed by the antics of Sheriff Joe, with his notorious round ups of Hispanics, and his Tent City, pink boxer shorts, and chain gangs for inmates,” Rosebraugh continued. “Now by signing SB 1070 into law, Governor Brewer has further embarrassed the State of Arizona.”

R.E.M. was founded in 2009 to combine art and entertainment with factual analysis of global injustice in order to educate the public on issues of importance. Rosebraugh sits on the board of directors for R.E.M., and is joined by artist and educator, Victoria Howard, and illustrator and artist, Keri Rosebraugh. This new ad targeting Arizona’s anti-immigration bill was illustrated by Keri Rosebraugh.

La Migra! La Migra!

by PrionPartyy Thursday, Apr. 29, 2010 at 12:09 AM

2nd paragraph...

"controversial new anti-immigration law"

"new"??? No, nothing "new" in the state law that isn't already in federal law. Just state law enforcment gets to do what the federal law enforcement La Migra failed and fails to do, for what ever reason that doesn't seem to get explained too much.

"Controversial"??? No, not unless you consider the federal immigration laws controversial. And if that is the case, hows about putting Obama and Pelosi in a NAZI uniform on your next poster.

"anti-immigration law"??? No, anti-illegal law. The law doesn't adress legal immigration in the slightest.

When they can't attack the actual law, they try to attack the people who passed the law. Actually, they create NAZI uniform wearing pseudo characters to attack as a means of running away from the actual issues before us.

Par for the corse for such people who can't honestly lead others and are limited to mis-leading others.

Honestly, I don't know why I expect better from people.

With Millions of U.S. Latinos in Boycott Mode, Will Arizona Get Hit by an Economic Tsunami?

April 27, 2010 posted by Johnny Punish · 8 Comments

Share45 Million U.S. Latinos and Freedom Supporters Prepare to Boycott Arizona

Republican Party on Verge or Alienating Major Voting Block

By all accounts the recession is subsiding and important leading sectors of the ecomony are recovering after the biggest recession since the 1930s. Yet while the country recovers, Arizona may get swept away by a wave they may not have seen coming.

Yes, it’s now widely accepted that Obamanomics is taking hold and companies are back in business. Momentum is growing and hope is slowly returning. But in Arizona, that move back up the ladder may be halted by a self-inflicted Economic Tsunami.

With 45 Million Latinos in the USA now alienated and affected by the State of Arizona’s new law calling for round-ups based on racial profiling, Arizona is now on the target list of major economic boycotts that could lead it down an ugly road political and community leaders did NOT bank on when they pulled the trigger on this new nazi-esque legistlation.

In fact, many U.S. leaders in business and politics are threatening to stop doing business with Arizona.

From U.S. truckers who deliver goods to Arizona, many of whom are Latino from many U.S. States, to Major League Baseball who has a huge amount of Latino players who may refuse to play in a racist racial profiling State of Arizona, to the Mayor of New York City warning citizens to consider travel to Arizona as it may be too risky, to even the President of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, saying that Mexico, the 2nd largest trading partner with the USA may halt deliveries of goods, Arizona could suffer an economic Tsunami that may sink it for many years to come, maybe even decades.

After all, a compromise of integrity of freedom and liberty for U.S. Citizens is not something taken lightly by those who cherish fundamental U.S. rights that have been protected under law

Almost everyone I speak with agrees that Immigration Reform is needed at the Federal level and the subsequent enforcment of Federal Law is absolutely needed. With my informal poll of friends on all sides of the ailes, there is an overwhelmingly majority that support enforcement.

Furthermore, no one I speak to on either side of the border wants the status quo.

Mexico enforces its’s immigration law especially with American Citizens as they are required to get FM2 and FM3 resident cards to live in Mexico.( These cards are similar to U.S green cards) So why isn’t it balanced? Many are perplexed as to why the USA does not enforce it’s law yet Mexico does.

Everyone wants the USA to enforce it’s law; well almost everyone except those that profit off cheap black market labor. I think what is mostly at disagreement is how to go about it.

Look if this legislation was designed to get the attention of Washington DC lawmakers, then mission accomplished and kudos to those bold leaders who screamed and yelled and got DC off their partisan duffs.

But if this was designed to really be a move by a racist movement to get rid of brown people, then Arizona and those who hide behind a fear of a brown planet, well, you’re in deep deep massive trouble. This just won’t fly. We don’t live on an island by ourselves people. We are surrounded by a rainbow coalition just waiting to be awakened. Racism may have been a HOT TREND in the 1810 but in 2010, RACISM means you’re frnige extremist not in line with the global realities of the 21st century. You might want to put that card away for some other future backward thinking twillight zone.

Worse, politically, the Republicans are in a quandry because Latinos are now a huge voting block and growing. They simply cannot align themselves any more with racism and exclusionary fringe movements if their political ideas and agendas are going to stand. If they do, this would be ashame because many Republican ideas have serious merit and losing them to fringe movements that end up marginalized into the trash dump of “that was stupid” would be a disaster for all of us. We need balance in 2 party system and without it, we run the risk of democratized tyranny. Thus, alienating this super large and growing Latino voting block is extremely bad for the GOP and all of us.

Ignoring the Latino community is now very risky political business. Big Business knows this fact and if the GOP does NOT get this in their collective heads quick like, they will truly regret their actions. Being known as the WHITES ONLY party will cost the GOP for years and years into the coming future. It will galvanize and unite opposition. The majority of America simply does NOT want a racist country. Aligning with racist movements is just bad for political business.

We got to get ahead of this thing before it gets way out of control and erupts into fistacuffs and maybe even worse. The moderates need to unite and put down the extremists on both sides.

This is no joke. It’s urgent and needs national attention right now before it explodes into a major hurt on all the good people of Arizona, the USA, and Mexico. Consider this article a public service announcement!

No one wants an Economic tsunami for Arizona but if they don’t back down, it looks highly likely that Arizona will get a direct economic hit right between the jaundiced political eyes. The causalties will mount and many people will be injured as a result. Recovery may take decades. We cannot afford this. Not now! Not at this time.

reposting lying, ridiculous government propaganda is rude.

A jobless 'recovery' is an oxymoron.

So, illegals who have found jobs driving trucks don't want to haul a load to Az where they could be sent back to their actual homelands.

Wow.

And Mexico will also stop shipping things to Az.

Well, tell us about Mexico's immigration laws when it comes to Hondurans or Guatamalans moving into Mexico.

Come on. I dare ya!!! I DOUBLE DARE ya!!!

it's ironic that the fascists would criticize mexico's immigration laws (as of 2008, 0 fine plus deprtation--if it's enforced at all) as the central americans are merely passing through on their way to sneak into the usa

the borders of Arizona are being over run with the results of the Drug War and the economic refugees of NAFTA

How the CIA cooked up the war in Vietnam which fed 58.000 of my brothers in arms into a hell on Earth.

Arizona needs to recall their national guard to patrol their own borders in the situations being wrought to the citizens there under the violence that is occurring near their southern borders.

if this new law allows the law enforcement people to merely stop any 'suspicious' individuals without probable cause it isn't constitutional.

If it allows law enforcement to arrest and deport at discovery, then it's totally constitutional.

And the first Amendment gives all persons to right to refuse to answer any questions whatsoever, including any personal information, so this is looking like lame duck law destined to self destruct.

It serves to give local law the same process that the federal government has, to detain or deport any perpetrators given due process but this law seems to violate the 1st 4th 5th and 6th Amendments if the high bar of reasonable cause is ignored.
