FIL-AM CAMPAIGN FOR 2010 PRESIDENTAIL ELECTIONS HEATS UP IN THE US

Los Angeles—With barely two weeks to the official Philippine presidential campaign for May 2010 elections in mid-January 2010, the Filipino-American campaign intramurals heats up in the United States.

The latest group to form up was the NoyMar ( For Aquino-Roxas Liberal party). It was composed of former NAFFAA stalwarts Loida Nicolas Lewis of New York and the Macabenta-Rodis tandem in San Francisco.

The US-based group promised to raised $ 2 million for the campaign kitty of two Philippine landlord-millionaires-Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas of the Araneta clan.

On the other hand the LAKAS-KAMPI Teodoro-Manzano ticket is supported by the well-oiled machine of the present GMA administration. Most community organizations especially those based in Central Luzon and in the east coast and Midwest United Stares is spearheading Teodoro’s campaign in the US.

Other Parties Support Groups

The Manny Villar –NP led ticket is safely based in Los Angeles. it is composed mostly of Philippine based realtors and their American allies and friends. Manny Villar is a big capitalist realtor in the Philippines.

The NP Villar-Legarda ticket will be bolstered by the progressives group led supposedly by their allies in the US who supporting the MAKABAYAN ticket in the Philippines.

The Estrada-Binay ticket is presently supported by a conglomeration of different fraternity groups and local community associations closely identified with the former president Joseph Estrada.

A loose coalition of religious group is working for the candidacy of Brother Eddie Vllanueva in the US. Like the Binay group they were ahead in organizing in Los Angeles as early as 2009.

Their group, Bagong Pilipino, Bagong Pilipinas is headed by veteran union leader Jay Valencia of the Circulo pampagueno of SC. The Jesus is Lord Movement in the US is also active in the campaign.

The Senator Escudero campaign groups manned mostly by Bicol Association based in the US. His campaign fizzled out when Escudero withdrew his candidacy for president last year. He is with the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) headed by Danding Cojuanco.
