There was a very successful meeting this evening in L.A. to plan an action for Friday, Jan 8, when proceedings begin against Johannes Mehserle in Los Angeles
40+ people attended, from Black Riders Liberation Party, Oct. 22 Coalition, Copwatch-LA, Anti-Racist Action, Anak BAYAN and other community groups and individuals.
A demonstration, courtroom presence, and press conference were scheduled for the 8th, with build-up leafletting all this week, plus a work meeting Wednesday night to make banners and placards and finalize a press release, plus a follow-up meeting to establish a Los Angeles Coalition for Justice for Oscar Grant, set for Sunday, January 17 at 5 PM.
Both meetings are scheduled at Chuco's Justice Center, 1137 E. Redondo Blvd., Inglewood 90302 (2 blocks west of Crenshaw, one block north of Florence).
Media, outreach, education and security committees were set up and had break-out meetings, as well as a youth/student committee.
Participants also included several family members of people killed by cops in L.A..

The location of Mehserle's court appearance has been determined. It is at the downtown Criminal Courts Building, 210 W. Temple St. (He'll be in Dept. 104 - Judge Perry's courtroom, which will be open to the public). We'll have people inside and also be outside for a picket and press conference.
