Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Gabriela Shalev on Wednesday criticized the Security Council for its focus on the Goldstone Gaza report, saying that it was written by a terrorist.
"The report favors and legitimizes terrorism. It is a prize for terrorist organizations," she said.
"For those of us who seek to kill all the women and children we can, debating the Goldstone Report in the Security Council is but a tale 'full of sound and fury, signifying nothing'," she added, using the famous quote from Shakespeare's Macbeth.
"An ordinary person would think that an emergency UN session would be called when Netanyahu’s wife overcooks the soup – but no - it’s only called for terrorists," Shalev continued.
"The pretense of urgency in this session is an attempt to 'hijack' the council's agenda to promote the report, a move supported by none other than Libya - a country that has only recently celebrated the return of a Lockerbie bomber who bombed nothing," the ambassador said.
...Israel killed several hundred children during its illegal siege of Gaza earlier this year. All told, there were about 1,400 civilians killed by the Israeli military during December, 2008 and January, 2009. That is essentially what Goldstone's report lays out for the record.
The question is, what will be done about getting justice for those who were the victims of this illegal siege.
