LOS ANGELES, September 26, 2009 – Right wing extremist groups are by nature essentially opposed to equal rights for women. From their campaign against the Equal Right Amendment in the 1970’s to their ongoing war against women’s access to healthcare (in particular the medical procedure known as abortion) various hate groups have for years targeted clinics that provide help on reproduction, family planning and other personal healthcare matters specific to women’s needs.
Anti-women hate groups were again on display outside the Family Planning Associates clinic in the Westlake district of Los Angeles this Saturday. They are part of a nationwide campaign launched by an extremist anti-abortion group calling itself “40 days for life” which is targeting clinics around the US.
To counter these attacks a pro-choice organization called “40 Days for Choice” is working to defend these clinics and protect women as they try to get in and out of the clinic. Pro-Choice activists are also organizing to counter an upcoming large anti-abortion protest against the clinic planned for this October 10th
Uploaded is interview via cell from outside the clinic with Katie Miller one of the pro-choice activists defending the clinic today.
Good coverage of harassment of women and clinic workers. Thank you! Usually this anti-abortion activity goes on and on without anyone being aware of it. That's why the Abortion Care Network started Enough! Basta! Stop Sidewalk Bullying at Women's Clinics which shows videos of what it's like outside clinics. And it's getting worse, and has been since the Democrats took power. Check out some of the videos
The videos are on Facebook Cause called Enough!Basta! (http://www.causes.com/enoughbasta) where you can donate or at http://www.YouTube.com/abortioncarenetwork. Again, thanks!
