Breaking news from Riverside

More than 70 people people including day laborers, MEChA activists and anti-authoritarian anarchists are holding a counter-protest against Nazi activities today in Riverside, CA. Their goal is to shut down an Nazi rally before it can begin.

The Nazis are expected to rally near a Home Depot where day labors gather for work, and may attempt actions against a local camp where many day laborers live.

Participants in the counter-protest report that anti-racist activists arrived at Riverside City Hall about two hours ago, then began marching toward the expected Nazi rally site, to arrive there before the Nazis do, with the intent of shutting down the rally before it can start.

RE: The Riverside anti Nazi protest held today, Sat 10-24-09, on Madison and Railroad.
There were about 20 Nazis and between 700 -800 counter protesters.
Most of the protesters held signs opposing hate and racism.
It was, by and large, peaceful, noisy and tense.
