Scott McLarty, GP media coordinator, summarized the views of most Greens very well on his Facebook page: "On one side, Dems stage bogus town hall meetings to push a complex high-cost plan with mandates to send millions in taxpayer dollars to for-profit health insurance companies. On the other side: Repubs & rampaging troglodytes think they're heirs to the Boston Tea Party but are really stooges for the same insurance industry. The Dems want phony reform, the GOP wants no reform. Either way, insurance CEOs win and we lose"
Jack Lindblad,
our Green Party candidate for the California State Assembly, 32nd District, declares one of
his legislative top priorities is to:
"guarantee quality universal single payer healthcare for all,"
Lisa Green,
our Green Party candidate for the California State Assembly, 53rd District, observed:
"In May, physicians, nurses, Greens, and other single-payer advocates were arrested after peacefully standing up to protest the exclusion of single-payer experts during Senate Finance Committee roundtables on health care reform. If fearmongering Republican leaders, front groups, and public personalities like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck are urging mobs of their supporters to break up town hall meetings, they should be investigated and prosecuted, just as the nonviolent single-payer protesters were arrested."

Hold on there. While there's some truth to the fact that Democrats are out there stumping for HR 3200, some of these same politicians have signed on to cosponsor HR 676, and know and support Single Payer.
Here's the URL:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR00676:@@@P Diane Watson supports HR676,
Maxine Waters, who had her town hall last week, supports HR 676.
Judy Chu, who will have her town hall this coming Saturday, supports HR 676.
Xavier Becerra, Howard Berman (!), Sam Farr, Bob Filner, Mike Honda, Barbara Lee, Zoe Lofgren, George Miller, Grace Napolitano, Lucy Roybal-Allard, and Lynne Woolsey all cosponsored the bill.
There are still a few names missing, like Laura Richardson, Adam Schiff, Linda Sanchez, Brad Sherman, and Jane Harman to lock down so-cal as a 676 Single Payer county.
Oh yeah, Waxman too. But he's sponsoring 3200.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in LA County there are more representatives who cosponsor 676 Single Payer aka Medicare for All than who have not cosponsored the bill.
7 for it, and 6 not yet for it.
I believe the local Dem party and state Dem party support 676,
Schiff, who is Blue Dog, supports 3200. Other Blue Dogs are attacking 3200, and our local pro-war Blue Dog supports it.
Single Payer advocates in LA should stop being so long-faced about the situation with the Dems. It's such a defeatist attitude to be portending a big failure, when, numerically, we're in one of the most progressive areas in the country.
