This past Tuesday (March 10, 2009), on Freedom Now, host Dedon Kamathi was discussing the arrest warrant issued for Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and how the media skews perception of the situation in Darfur. Following an interview with Cynthia McKinney, he brought on "expert" Lawrence Freeman of Executive Intelligence Review magazine.
Executive Intelligence Review is an organ of the Lyndon LaRouche political cult. LaRouche is a conspiracy theorist who preys on young, intelligent activists to fuel his machine. He is an opportunist at heart, and while he claims to represent "liberal" ideals, he has collaborated with known racists--anything to get some power.
Freeman spouted a lot of typical, convoluted, guilt-by-association LaRouchie rhetoric. For example, Freeman "informs" us that George Soros, a British agent and oligarchical puppetmaster allied with the HG Wells/Bertrand Russell faction for world domination, is behind the arrest warrant.
While Freeman did not attempt to hide his affiliation, Dedon made no disclaimer about the man, his organization, or its leader. Why not, Dedon?

Interview begins at about the 33-minute mark.
The next day, (Wednesday, March 11, 2009) Christine Blosdale was hosting Beneath the Surface while Roseanne Barr and Johnny Argent were on vacation in Hawai'i. Toward the end of the program, Blosdale announced a film screening hosted by what she termed as "the good folks at We Are Change."
Following a discussion of genetically-modified foods, she nonchalantly announced, "Oh! I almost forgot! Listen you guys, if you're interested in food, and in particular, genetically-modified food, there is gonna be a screening of The Future of Food Friday March 20th at seven pm at the Hollywood United Methodist Church at Franklin and Highland and if you want more information about that, you can go to kpfk.org, look at our calendar, its listed on there [...] the good folks at We Are Change-LA are presenting that, its an incredible film, it will change the way you look at food, trust me."
We Are Change is a "9/11 truth" organization which, while ostensibly non-partisan, has a lot of conspiracy stuff about the "New World Order," the Bilderbergs, and relies heavily on Alex Jones, NewsMax, and Fox News for its "news items." They are big on the "North American Union," too, a theory popular among the anti-immigrant crowd that holds that the US is merging with Mexico and Canada, sullying the "white identity" of the US.
So why is Christine pushing this group on the air?

Just past the 45-five minute mark (at 45:25).
And this morning, (Monday, March 16, 2009) Lila Garrett, who normally just shills for the Democrats, has now become a spokesperson for the anti-Federal Reserve "tax honesty" movement. She interviewed Ed Griffin, a close friend of the ultra-right wing politician Ron Paul, about his analysis of the Fed.
This movement is overwhelmingly made up of upper-class whites who simply don't want to pay their taxes. They are probably concerned that some of it might be spent on social services for the poor and people of color. And once again, this "movement" is deeply connected to the nativist movement (see the end of Aaron Russo's America: From Freedom to Fascism), as well as the "New World Order" crowd and "Christian Patriots" like Tim McVeigh.

(Interview begins the show)
I don't doubt that the media is presenting a skewed view of the situation in Darfur. And we do need to be concerned about the safety of our food, especially as it regards genetic modification. And of course, we do need a major restructuring of our financial institutions.
But we do not need to have these right-wing voices, with their RFI-implantation mark-of-the-beast paranoias and their xenophobic tendencies on what is supposed to be OUR radio station, a voice for peace, understanding, and the political left.
