Who is really behind The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace EFCA FEAR campaign ?

by Employee Free Choice Act Now .Org Monday, Mar. 02, 2009 at 12:47 AM

Union busting is a field populated by bullies and built on deceit. A campaign against a union is an assault on individuals and a war on truth. As such, it is a war without honor. The only way to bust a union is to lie, distort, manipulate, threaten, and always, always attack. Martin Jay Levitt, 1993, Confessions of a Union Buster Employee Free Choice Act Now .Org

Who is really behind The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace grassroots FEAR and Intimidation campaign to defeat the Employee Free Choice Act?

The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, a coalition of hundreds of business associations across the nation, turned to Navigators Global for help in defeating legislation pushed by labor unions to replace the private ballot with a card-check system for union elections.

Home Depot - Measure B

Navigators was hired by Home Depot to manage a campaign to defeat a ballot initiative in Thousand Oaks, California that would have prevented it from developing a new store in the community.

Navigators Global claims it has extensive experience in organizing and managing industry and grassroots coalitions, effectively utilizing resources and mobilizing advocacy groups to bring maximum exposure to our clients’ issues and concerns.

By combining strategic messaging and effective mobilization, Navigators Global builds and successfully executes grassroots and coalition campaigns that produce real results for our clients. From building, branding and managing coalitions, to developing and hosting issue-based Web sites to phone campaigns and field operations, Navigators Global offers comprehensive programs that bring together all the necessary elements that complement our strategic communications campaigns.

Union busting is a field populated by bullies and built on deceit. A campaign against a union is an assault on individuals and a war on truth. As such, it is a war without honor. The only way to bust a union is to lie, distort, manipulate, threaten, and always, always attack.

Martin Jay Levitt, 1993, Confessions of a Union Buster

The irony of union busters is that management is extremely fearful of “losing control” of the workplace and sharing power with its workforce in the form of a union. Yet they happily hand over control of the workplace to the union busters they hire who do exactly that—directing the entire campaign and in effect taking control of the workplace by telling management and supervisors what to say, what to do and how to act. The money that management squanders on these union busters would be much better spent on dealing with the real workplace issues.
