A group of Jewish anti incursion activists chained themselves together in front of the Los Angeles Israeli Consulate early Tuesday morning.
They were trying to bring attention to the percentage of jews and Israelis who disapprove of the present Israeli military operations in the Gaza strip.

The police presence was moderate while the area was blocked off from traffic. LAPD chief William Bratton visited the scene.

There were some minor rhetorical skirmishes.

The protest broke up and dissipated after statements were made to the media.

SELF INDULGENT ADVERTISING HERE - pretty photos? no.

by photo critic Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at 12:43 PM

these 'character' photos appear to be a self--publicity stunt for a certain group who want to ADVERTISE and DISPLAY THEMSELVES for apparent public approval...finally....

Indymedia is not a site for self aggrandizement nor for self promotion....hopefully, but no one here controls that ability to put up stuff that is not much more than self promotion, self display for notoriety, narcissitic attempts to look heroic when they dont.

foolish folks.
yet it is incumbent on the 'rest of us ordinary folks' who work actively for PEACE, not for a single cause or a single group of identified "'victims'...yes, yet another group in the news, but a different one last week, last month, 3 months ago....

this childish display of what looks like robotik costumes in the face of NO DANGER IN OUR FAIR CITY OF LOS ANGELES is nothing more than self-made pretend heroics and sci fi imagery.

shame on anyone who thinks these folks are doing any Good anywhere...besides attempting to LOOK GOOD for t heir elevation and images.

ugh
and again
another
UGH !
grow up !
do something useful
for a change

A small reply

by RSlowden Tuesday, Jun. 23, 2009 at 1:59 PM

Dear "Photo Critic"

I shot several sets on the Los Angeles Gaza protests.

http://la.indymedia.org/news/2009/01/223439.php

http://la.indymedia.org/news/2009/01/223576.php

I tried to give each group even coverage. However, generally speaking....there were physically more Palestinian sympathizers present, thus giving one more access to photographic opportunities.

As far as Indymedia is concerned, the LA site is exceptionally multirepresentational in its coverage and access. Severely democratic citizen journalism is not neccessarily everyones cup of tea.

You can publish too.

Go ahead.
