Concerned Jewish residents of Los Angeles have shut down the Israeli consulate for the first time ever in a historic protest against the policies of Israel. An ad-hoc, multi-generational group including members of the recently founded International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, will send a message to the Israeli government and its US supporters: "Not In Our Name! We will not be silent! Jews demand an end to the Israeli siege on Gaza and an end to Israeli apartheid." The demonstration will kick off a wave of demonstrations across the United States uniting Palestinians, Jewish people, and other Americans outraged by the siege.

"We are shocked and outraged at Israeli's latest act of violent aggression against the Palestinian people. Killing over 950 people, including 250 women and children, bombing schools and mosques and then calling it self-defense—that is the worst kind of hypocrisy. It also amounts to war crimes," said Hannah Howard, a local member of the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network. "We are shutting down the Israeli consulate today because as Jewish people we cannot allow business as usual while violence is being done in our name. This is a direct betrayal of our Jewish tradition of social justice."

Action participants will also speak out against the US government's unconditional support for Israel's siege and its ongoing war against the Palestinian people. "While US-funded F16's rain down bombs on the people of Gaza, our elected officials locally and nationally offer unqualified support." said Marsha Steinberg, a retired union representative. "Our government must stop sending billions of dollars in military and economic aid to the Israeli war machine while defending Israel in the international community," Steinberg said. In the coming week, concerned Americans from all backgrounds will call on the new Presidential administration to make a 180 degree change in policy.

"While the end of the siege on Gaza is our most immediate priority, this is only the latest chapter in Palestinians' 60 plus year experience of occupation and ethnic cleansing. Peace and justice in the region will only come when Palestinians have freedom and control their own destiny," said Lisa Adler, a community organizer in Los Angeles and another member of the International Jewish Solidarity Network. "Even before the siege began, Israel's inhumane months-long blockade of Gaza created a major humanitarian crisis. We must end the siege. And we are building a nonviolent international movement of boycott, divestment and sanctions that brings an end to Israel's policies of occupation and apartheid and advances the Palestinian struggle for justice," said Adler.

is this woman in pain because she chose to chain herself to some post or wall or other people?

is she trying to "relate and identify" with a few people in another land far away while she actually looks very healthy, well fed, newly clothed, and even able to exercise her 'rights' to be seen publicly - w/o a scarf, or long robe or other paraphenalia that islamists prefer to her wearing a new unisex t-shirt?

is she showing off her new t-shirt now and the photographer with an easy-in-USA-to-purchase cell phone or camera [most of which are imported not made here either ] is taking advantage of her apparent distress - to make a political statement written all over on her bossom ?

is the baggie thrown or laid down to the left of her [our right viewing side] contain nuts, trail mix, or drugs ? what is the message with those ? WAs that dropped on her like drugs are sometimes by the police to incriminate her more ? was she eating and choked on the contents of the baggie ?

and why is the amount of money given to Israel the main topic of a protest when it is not excessive or extraorindary - as the USA GIVES $$$$$$ TO ALLLLLLL SIDES [just as lobbyists give to both political parties in campaigns too ] , and they give also cash and including parts & weapons for Iran, Iraq, Saudies, Pakistanis, Joranians, Eygyptians, Georgians, Bulgarians et all and many more....

what is so notable about this governments' giving money to Israel when the USA govt adminstrators [before Jan 20 and after also ] want to insure their USA MILITARY BASES everywhere ...tho unadvertised ...and maintain their CIA lofts and dungeons and roomsin many countries outside of this own...and be able to continually purchase dictators and cooperative politicians anywhere ...and

and.....

so what's so unusual that a protest is made to complain that USA gives-away our taxed income to a multitude of states - everywhere except to it's own poor populations ?

how easy to made a splash in the LA local news and claim some victory for those perceived 'victims' ....as if the palestinians are the new "jews" of the world, now seen as persecuted unfairly, and not given their claimed 'rights' not their 'historical' [but then underdeveloped] lands...they want everything that ever was under their national name back now, tho it is in much improved conditions than when it was theirs...

how many other 'nations' and states have also usurped lands well beyond their prior borders... and made wars to expand their territories... and NEVER GIVEN THEM BACK... or been required by any law to do so....?

Israel's taking extra spaces & places in their wars with their neighbors was not unusual, then ,or now...

Is Iraq administered and 'owned' by whom right now ?Not in pretend names but in actual control & authority, who owns their oil fields and gets the goodies ?
who uses usurps their resources/ oil/ etc ?

who looted their historical bldgs and monuments in a 'deserved invation" ?
Where have all the goodies gone?

Is that not a similar 'taking over someone else's" and claiming it as: 'we can't help it..someone has to do it and take it and use it..and protect it......'

and name the multitude of other land grabs = all over Africa, or Latin America or Asia...what's so different with the arabs, palestinians, israelis, egyptians, etc ?
what is different with Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, China, Tibet, etc. etc. ?

was this an attempt to make excitement & drama and for these jews to appear RIGHTEOUS and holier-than-others...all the while being in comfy & safe in Los Angeles ? on our fancy city streets [Wilshire is fancy] , and some protesting & claiming fame
by USING [read: utilizing, usurping, grabbing] some other group's cause as if it were their own.

Jews for what ? for exhibitionism ?
Jews for what ? their own political agendas not clearly labeled for everyone to critique, just a big scream ?

Jews for what ? anyone who they can USE to make themselves appear more 'caring' as pretend-rescuers and then take credit for having done something oh so good....for a change.

Jews for what ? for their own self-image to be played out as rescuers of any cause they can find that gives them a 1-up image and a convenient enemy ?

or make the world better by doing something more than publicity spectacled 'protest' while safely esconsced in our beautiful city of LA.
