Hate speech is not free speech.
The hall will be surrounded. The stage will be stormed. The people will defend themselves from hate.

I don't get the idea of "the people will storm" the injustice approach. Jim Gilchrist is complete fringe mentality. Frankly, I would just ignore the whole event. Why would ANYONE want to attend this? There are so many more important things to do in this world. So, just stay away. If a bigot speaks in an auditorium and no one hears it, does the bigot make any sound? (ok, lame attempt at paraphrasing the "tree in the forrest" bit, but you get my drift.)

we can't ignore racist, fascist shit like this. what if the fascist movements in europe had been more strongly opposed and shut down before they gained power? what if the nazis had been stopped while they were a fringe group?
in this case, silence is consent.

completely storming the place could be an effective tactic. completely ignoring it could be, too. It could send a powerful message if coordinated to send it. I think the best tactic would be to send some knowledgeable people in there to challenge their racist rhetoric (and make them look stupid--these guys don't have the first clue about Mexican or Chicano history, immigration, labor economics, or globalization) during the question and answer session, catch it on tape and upload it to YouTube. Also, we should try to get everyone we can to call up or e-mail the President of CSULB, F. King Alexander. He is a cool guy, so we can just politely let him know that we don't appreciate this kind of hate speech. Name: Alexander, F King Title: PRESIDENT Department: Office of the President Phone: 562 985-4121 Email Address: fkalexan@csulb.edu Home Page: http://www.csulb.edu/~fkalexan Fascist movements need to be opposed and confronted actively. But little Hitlers like the "Conservative" Student Union president should be ignored until they disappear. Otherwise, the attention will fuel their little ego-driven hate screeds and they'll just get worse.

You may be thinking of Chris Simcox involving incidents before he started the Minuteman Civil Defense Corp(LOL). Or Bikini Minuteman aka Jeff Schwilk assaulting Christy Cajowski or whatever her last name is. I don't think either one has been in prison or jail for it though.

by Neither Mexicans nor Anglos can claim land

Both sides of this debate are wrong. Mexicans or "Latinos" are indigenous to either Mexico or Spain, not North America. The Zapatistas and other authentic indigenous peoples of Mexico are busy trying to fight "their own" corrupt government (U.S. lapdog Felipe Calderon and his neo-Spanish stooges), not trying to establish "la raza" or some other conquistador's fantasy in the land of other indigenous peoples..
Anglos and Europeans are indigenous to Europe, England and such places across the Atlantic, not North America. They have no right to give away land to anyone else, this is already an occupation on stolen land. Euro-americans should either help out the indigenous North Americans save their culture from genocide or go back to Europe and rediscover their own lost culture stolen by Christianity..
This is like Tweedledee fighting with Tweedledum, neither side is entitled to occupy this land. This land belongs to indigenous North American tribes (Navajo, Hopi, Apache, etc...) that are neither Mexican nor U.S., as neither of these places really exist and are only imaginary constructs based on land theft..
From this point on, BOTH U.S. AND MEXICO will be seen as enemies of indigenous sovereighty and self-determination..
May both the U.S. and Mexico collapse into the ground and be replaced by localized self determined tribes of indigenous peoples and their allies, wherever they come from..
May the U.S. stock market complete it's needed collapse and all people start over with the simple yet important needs of clean air and water, healthy food and a community not based on profit and exploitation..
