OMG, the stats are right ! check them out for yourself.

by sidestepper Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at 8:51 PM

Wondering about rumors and exaggerations, we checked some stats and found these... see what they say about you, us, and 'them" too

[the sources are listed, please see them for more info]

from : http://www.census.gov/PressRelease/www/releases/ archives/population/012496.html

THURSDAY, AUG. 14, 2008

" An Older and More Diverse Nation by Midcentury"

projections released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.

"Minorities, now roughly one-third of the U.S. population, are expected to become the majority in 2042, with the nation projected to be 54 percent minority in 2050.

By 2023, minorities will comprise more than half of all children. In 2050, the nation’s population of children is expected to be 62 % minority, up from 44 % today.

Meanwhile, the Hispanic * population is projected to nearly triple, ... during the 2008 to 2050 period. Its share of the nation’s total population is projected to double, from 15 % to 30 %. Thus, nearly one in three U.S. residents would be Hispanic.

The black population is projected to increase .... 14 % of the population in 2008, to ...15 % in 2050.

The Asian population is projected to climb ...Its share of the nation’s population is expected to rise from 5.1 % to 9.2 %.

The non-Hispanic, single-race white population is projected to be only slightly larger in 2050 ... than in 2008 (199.8 million). ... this group is projected to lose population in the 2030s and 2040s and comprise 46 % of the total population in 2050, down from 66 % in 2008.

*The federal government treats Hispanic origin and race as separate and distinct concepts. In surveys and censuses, separate questions are asked on Hispanic origin and race. The question on Hispanic origin asks respondents if they are Spanish, Hispanic or Latino. Starting with Census 2000, the question on race asked respondents to report the race or races they consider themselves to be. Thus, Hispanics may be of any race."

"The percentage of childless women who have reached the end of their child-bearing years in the United States has doubled from 10% to 20% in the last 30 years, reported the US Census Bureau ...

The survey also found that, "Women 40 to 44 years old will end their childbearing years with an average of 1.9 children each, a number below replacement-level fertility." This is markedly fewer children than in 1976, when 3.1 children was the national average.

36% of the women who gave birth in 2006 were separated, widowed, divorced or never married.

5 % were living with a partner.

Only the Hispanic and Black populations in the US are replacing themselves with an average of 2.3 and 2.0 children born per woman respectively...At this rate, experts say, whites will be the minority in America by 2042....

It is not only the United States that is experiencing drastic population decline. Last year, surveys revealed that the Canadian birthrates have also hit an all time low, clocking in at an average of 1.5 children per woman, while the European Union ...has predicted an overall drop in Europe's population of 7 million people by 2050."

Some of thought the stats must be skewed or wrong, but who's counting anyhow....every group seems to make exaggerated claims and boasts that seem to legitimate their grabs for power and positions too.

What else do we not actually count or know ?
