The Philippines, a First World Country in 2015? No WAY!

Philippines- A First World Country in 2015? A PGMA DAY DREAM

Los Angeles-- In 1960, President Diosdado Macapagal led the Philippines to the arms of Dictator Ferdinand Marcos by implementing the dictates of the World Bank-IMF in imposing decontrol and de-industrializing the Philippines with the slogan “Fight Poverty”

Forty years later, in 2008, her daughter Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo promised in her speech to the United Nations last September 23 to lead the Philippines into a “First World Country Status” with the same slogan” Fighting Poverty” in 2015.

With the heavy 12% Value Added Tax which pays almost 60% of the country’s debt to the IMF-World Bank, how can the Philippines be a first world country in 2015 when the country is mired in deep poverty and the civil war in Mindanao?

The AJLPP is greatly alarmed by the unabashed puppetry and callousness of the US-Arroyo regime which chooses to wage war against the Filipino people and the Bangsa Moro people of Mindanao while blindly committing to its obligations to pay her debts to her capitalist lenders.

The AJLPP is greatly aware that the US-Arroyo regime will open the Philippines to greater exploitation and depredations of the US Australian and other imperialist mining corporations as well as the Japanese capitalists opening the seas and land as well as the all the natural resources that they can get their hands of the Philippines.

The AJLPP is greatly aware that more Filipino overseas workers specially women and children will be the cannon fodders for overseas human market for export and modern slavery.

We do not believe that the Philippines will ever be a First World country and ever get out of poverty until a free. Independent nation and people rise up as one and free themselves from the bondage of Imperialism and semi-feudal conditions.

Even Filipinos overseas can never be free from the bondage of their countrymen until they free themselves from ever heavier racism and capitalist exploitation and oppression in the countries where they reside and work as citizens or immigrants.

Only through the struggle for a truly free and independent Philippines and a free and a truly equitable socialist society abroad can we be truly be free.
