REPOST--Terrorism charges lodged against protesters at GOP convention

Prosecutors in Ramsey County, Minn., have formally charged eight alleged leaders of the RNC Welcoming Committee -- one of the groups organizing protests at the GOP convention in St. Paul -- with terrorism-related charges, The Times' P.J. Huffstutter reports.

Monica Bicking, Eryn Trimmer, Luce Guillen Givins, Erik Oseland, Nathanael Secor, Robert Czernik, Garrett Fitzgerald and Max Spector, face up to 7 1/2 years in prison under the terrorism enhancement charge, which allows for a 50% increase in the maximum penalty they could face. . .

Well, that didn't take long did it? Exercising your First Amendment right is now an act of terrorism.

Forget that the only terrorizing conduct was by the police.

Stick a fork in the Republic. It's done.

terrorism charge

by doug Friday, Sep. 05, 2008 at 1:32 PM

The only terrorism I saw on numerous videos from Minnesota was perpetrated by the police/ FBI / secret service. It looks to me that the USA is headed closer and closer to a fascist state.

I watched the old movie "On the Beach" last night - still very moving. It's amazing how much similarity there is in the actions of governments as portrayed in the book/movie and the actions of our government under the neocons. While the movie presses into the sad ending of a world depopulated by an all-out nuclear war, our current situation is showing the sad ending of a republic brought to its knees in just 8 years by the shredding of its constitution and the manipulation of its public by media and propaganda. The public is so "conditioned" now that those in power dictate what the truth is - very like another book - 1984.

There are those of us who continue to fight back - unlike the situation in "On the Beach" we still have hope left. Of course if global warming keeps up its recent pace we may find ourselves at the mercy of an irreversible greenhouse effect. Looked at any photos of the surface of Venus lately?

We must reverse our growing police state! We must defeat John McCain in November.

response to lord of flies:
Just because the agencies have been caught many times infiltrating demonstrations and provoking violence ( caught in camra by the way ) these trolls still use the same old card. Rememmber Judi Barri
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbJFZSITS1I
and the FBI who tried to smear her movement after trying to kill her.
The state is the origin of terrorism.
And these unpleasant trolls a measure of the hurt this information puts on the validity of this arrogant and increasingly abusive state.

no, let it stay...

by instructive..'Lord of !@@#^%!! Saturday, Sep. 06, 2008 at 5:59 AM

did yall notice the Tourret's spasm from our resident facsist lacky?

We should leave it there as an example of infantile psychopathy in response to forbidden information. Like a brown shirt but with only its 'lips' to beat up others with.
Pathetic. like its degenerate cause in favor or state terrorism.

either way

First, Locksley, we don't have the title "Lord" in the United States. Second, what are you so worried about? Both McCain and Obama voted with Bush on FISA Reform, effectively nullifying the Bill of Rights (except, of course, the 2nd amendment). The U.S. has a larger percentage of its citizens in prison than any other country, going back, it even tops Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia. Neither candidate has spoken a word about this system of legalized slavery. The definition of fascism is the collusion of corporations and government and that is what we have and what both candidates support. This election is merely a show put on by the privileged class to create the illusion that we live in a democracy rather than an oligarchy.

blithering again?

by response to lord of flies Saturday, Sep. 06, 2008 at 11:08 AM

This entry is about the state setting up fraudulent criminal terrorism charges against 1st amendment protected actions.
Despite the spin, the state is clearly in violation of the 1st amendment. Someting this self professed lord ( who in their *right* mind gives a flying f**k about bloodlines and other inbreeding programs ) seems to suppport.
Yep, a brown shirt wannabe. Too bad that although the spirit is willing, the flesh is too cowardly to actually do any street thuggery. Hence, its presence here,

" his pathetic party"

by what? Sunday, Sep. 07, 2008 at 11:04 AM

Which side of his fascist party do you mean?
The republicans or democrats?
Like there was any difference at all except the faces.
What a crappy 'choice'.
