Pavley Levine Mailer Battle Continues

by Sol Thursday, May. 29, 2008 at 2:17 AM

California Senate Candidates Pavley and Levine continue to send mailers, and Democrats despairing the departure of legendary State Senator Sheila Kuehl can only despair some more. Levine sends pictures of himself hugging a little kitty and his dog, who apparently likes him. His dog, however, doesn't pay TV cable bills, and TV cable consumers whom Levine screwed as Chairman of the Assembly Utilities Committee can only wish he cared as much for them as he does for cats and dogs.

Following the Sunday and Memorial Day mail holidays, California Senate District 23 candidates Fran Pavley and Lloyd Levine again filled district mail boxes with mailers, financed by Sacramento special interests, destined to likewise fill local land fills.

Pavley again demonstrated her support for right wing policies and values with a mailer from police officer groups advocating, as they have for the past 30 years, more jails and prisons as a solution to all problems. The failure of more jails and prisons to solve any problems doesn't apparently move these people.

Levine had a mailer from the Teachers Union opposing Pavley's anti-union positions. "Pavley's supporters are EdVoice a group described as a `who's who of California hyper-wealthy political players' `that champions school vouchers, charter schools' and whose `goal is the privatization of the pubic school system."

The brochure also alleges that "Pavley supported the EdVoice agenda while a member of the State Assembly" and cites Pavley's votes for anti-union SB 740 and AB 14 in 2001.

Lloyd Levine finally did something different. His brochure has a picture of a resting dog and cat under the caption, "If we could only vote ... we'd vote for the person who has been fighting so hard for us."

Levine supports animal rights.

Apparently reasoning that kissing babies is old fashioned, Levine has set a new standard for mailers by showing himself on the next page hugging a cute little kitty. The kitty looks however like he has better things to do with his time than pose for a campaign photo with Levine.

Levine also included a picture of himself with his dog, who does look like he is enjoying himself. His dog seems to like Levine, and Levine merits credit for that.

As Chairman of the Utilities Levine sold out to and carried water for AT&T and Verizon and preempted what remained of local cable regulation. Cable TV customers screwed by Levine's legislation can only ask why hasn't Levine been fighting as hard for consumers as he has for cats and dogs.
