Say WHAT?

To tell the truth I didn't see any protesters on TV...I was very disapointed. I must have blinked. "nearly no signs of political protestors seeking to waylay the parades worldwide audience" reads the Long Beach Press-Telegram. BTW..did Cindy Sheehan show?

Ron Paul sign at Rose Parade seen by a billion people (why didn't the WRC do similar with a sign calling for impeachment of Bush/Cheney?)

White Rose Coalition a Flop

by FYI Thursday, Jan. 03, 2008 at 12:18 PM

When ever you see ANSWER or World Can't Wait are part of some protest you can bet it will fail.

The Ron Paul people did a better job and got more TV exposure.

I think Cindy was a no show.

The best thing that could happen for the anti-war movement would be for groups like ANSWER & WCW to disband.

These CIA monitored CP front groups only serve to de-rail any real action.

Impeach Kucinich

by monique Abu Jamal Sunday, Jan. 06, 2008 at 3:34 PM

The billions of people who saw the Impeach and Kucinich banners got the impression that the protesters were suggesting that Dennis be impeached. It caused quite a bit of confusion among the unwashed masses.

re: Impeach Kucinich

by Flunky Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at 10:45 AM

I just watched a video recording of the original live broadcast on KTLA. There are indeed times when the Kucinich and "impeach" signs appear close together. (There is also an instance when the Ron Paul sign is seen close to an "Impeach" sign.)

In every case, though, it is clear that the signs are held and made by different people. Yet, I can't rule out the possibility that some number of viewers assumed that the group was acting in unison to convey "impeach Kucinich" and "impeach Ron Paul" messages. It depends on what parts of the parade one watched and how closely one looked.

There was an "impeach" sign that could be seen clearly (albeit fleetingly), where Cheney's name was quite visible.

There were also many cases were "impeach," Kucinich, and Ron Paul all appeared seperate from each other.

Whether or not the message was garbled for a certain number of viewers, the activists did succeed in disrupting the parade--disrupting the illusion that everything is fine and that now's an occasion to celebrate.

There were political signs popping up throughout most of the parade coverage. It may not have always been clear what the message was supposed to be, but the atmosphere was more reflective of what's really going on in this country and the world.
