Liliana Escucha, el Pueblo Esta en la Lucha!
Menudo Fundraiser Por La Dignidad is a success!

-Raza Press and Media Association News Bulletin
Oxnard, Ca

On Sunday November 25, 2007, over 100 community members attended the
Menudo Breakfast Fundraiser organized in support of Liliana
Sanctuario, a 30 year old Mexican women who has been living in a
church sanctuary in resistance to the repressive Migra/ICE raids
unleashed since May 2006.

The fundraiser was organized by Frente Contra las Redadas del
Condado de Ventura FCR-VC (United Front Against the Raids) a local
coalition formed in August of this year to combat and expose the
brutal state terror caused by Homeland Security's Operation Endgame,
a detention and removal plan aimed at deporting 12 million
undocumented workers and their families by the year 2012.

The FCR-VC breakfast fundraiser collected $1000 dollars and donated
immediately to Liliana's family. Sunday's morning program included an
indigenous ceremony by Danza Azteca Kalpuli Huiztilin ihuan Xochitl,
music and dance by Mariachi and Ballet Folclorico Inlakech, as well
as an acoustic guitar presentation by JuanGhoma.

Guest presentations were also made by Oxnard College MEChA, Hermandad
Mexicana of Oxnard, New Sanctuary Movement/CLUE, FCR-VC
representative and Liliana's husband. Also, a recorded video message
from Liliana to the fundraiser supporters, as well as a video clip of
the New Sanctuary Movement.

An FCR-VC representative exclaimed, "The message is made clear here
today, we must organize in our communities to resist these racist
laws and Migra/ICE terror. We must network and build an organized
community response against Endgame."

Tears were drawn and hearts were inspired to struggle when a live
telephone call address by Liliana. Participants listened as Liliana
told her story and how she has been separated from her family unjust
laws. "Thank you for all of your support, the community organizing
efforts, the marches, etc. has impacted our family tremendously. My
children are filled with joy know that there is a struggle in our
support" says Liliana.

Expansion of Terror Beyond Latinos

by mous Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 10:48 PM

These raids primarily affect Latinos, but in multi-cultural workplaces, people who are not Latino are also harrassed, arrested, and attacked.

If you want support outside of your ethnic group, you should document and highlight these cases as well, and find allies.

After all, you weren't the first group to be targeted by this "war on immigrants". Middle Eastern and South Asian people were the first victims. This hyper-policing spreads like a disease.

Actually ...

by Sam Zislman Saturday, Dec. 08, 2007 at 11:57 AM

That's just an inaccurate characterization. It's not a "war" aimed at "immigrants" or "Latinos". These are illegal alien raids aimed to root out people who are in the country unlawfully. Period.

EXACTLY. Why do they constantly twist the terms?

by KOBE SBM Saturday, Dec. 08, 2007 at 12:05 PM

I completely agree with Sam. This is not a "war" on any immigrants (illegal aliens are NOT immigrants, despite their constant reference to themselves as such). These people are here ILLEGALLY, and the INS and Homeland Security are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing. If they had been doping their jobs before now, there wouldnt be silly and irritating marches protesting the enforcement of our national laws.

Mexico has abused its friendship with the United States, and it has abused its own people by allowing such squalid conditions to exist, with no hope for upward mobility. The main key seems to be the religious-based policy of "be fruitful and multiply". There are TOO MANY of them here. This has nothing to do with race.

What?

by What? Sunday, Dec. 09, 2007 at 9:35 AM

"Mexico has abused its friendship with the United States"
Who are these people who write such puerile flop?
The situation is the criminal corporate cliental relationship with banking capital and the bought-off 'leadership'. Well duh.
Are all of the related comments about ' Mexican corruption' as simple and shallow as this?
No wonder nothing can be done.
