Rally Tonight @ Artivist Film Festival *time sensitive*

by Q’orianka Kilcher & Axis Of Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at 3:13 PM

Artivist choose to take money from Petrobras (big oil), this company is destroying the Amazon rainforest for profit. We say no more!

PRESS RELEASE:
When: Today, Sunday- Nov. 11th
Where: Artivist Film Festival
Egyptian Theatre 6712,Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028
GENOCIDE LOOKS A LOT BETTER WHEN IT'S PAINTED GREEN!

The Issue:
Artivist’s is a 501 c3 non-profit organization and Film Festival, advertising to have the values and mission to “merge Art and Activism for Global Consciousness”.
Artivist's website clearly states: “ARTIVIST is the first international film festival and awards dedicated to addressing Human Rights,
Children's Advocacy, Environmental Preservation, and Animal Rights.” It further states: ”Our mission is to strengthen the voice of activist artists - "Artivist’s" - while raising public awareness
for social global causes.”

Petrobras is a Big Oil Company with a pending legal case in front of the Inter-American Commission on
Human Rights, due to their advancements into one of the most important, biodiverse national parks in the Amazon, Yasuni National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home of the ancestral territory of the Waorani and other isolated and even un-contacted indigenous groups. Petrobras is a company with a total disrespect for human rights and the environment.

Background Info:
Artivist claims to represent the artist/activist community, however, they have sold the moral integrity and credibility of the Artivist community to Petrobras for monetary gain.
Artivist has been informed of all of Petrobras non-humane activities and has been encouraged by major environmental Organizations, Celebrities and filmmakers to drop them as sponsors.
Artivist reply to this request was met with elevating and celebrating Petrobras by giving them a special sponsorship title “ Community Partner”, aiding them in their Green Wash initiative and falsely representing Petrobras as an eco conscious company, disregarding the fact that Indigenous Peoples and our environment are paying the price with their life’s for Petrobras Greed and Profit.

No amount of environmental programs by Petrobras should make you feel satisfied that they are a decent or remotely responsible company. THEY ARE NOT!
Artivist Film Festival has embarrassed the community they claim to represent.
It is vital that we stand together and remind Artivist of their responsibility and expose misleading corporate green-wash hypocrisy, in the face of Petrobras crimes against humanity and our environment.

Please join on-Q initiative and many others and come to tonight’s Gathering to show your solidarity with Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon, who are facing cancer, birth defects and extinction due to Oil drilling and toxic oil contamination in one of the last pristine places on earth. Lets urge Petrobras to Pull out of Yasuni National Park and let’s show Artivist that they need to stand for what they preach!!!

Peaceful gathering of people at 5:PM.
Danzantes Cuauhtemoc offering, prayer, and dance. (Aztec Dancers In solidarity with their Amazon Brothers and Sisters!)
Press Interviews available at 6:PM with Q’orianka Kilcher and Martin O Brian, the Director of Justicia Now!
