NYC Indymedia Totally Bans My Articles from Publication

NYC Indymedia Totally Bans My Articles from Publication

By Lloyd Hart

In the quiet secrecy of what seems to be a conspiratorial siege mentality NYC Indymedia has unofficially but secretly banned my writing from being published on the Open News Wire entirely. I say conspiratorial because for NYC Indymedia to completely ban my writing and publishing from the site it would require the action of more than one person to do so.

There has been over the last few years a couple of times when NYC Indymedia has attempted censorship of my material but would usually back off if I kept posting the article, but now they have completely banned me from publishing altogether.

The total ban seems to have stemmed from when I published an article I wrote a couple of weeks ago entitled "Chomsky and 911." In this article I am critical of Chomsky being so dismissive of the work of the 911 Truth Movement and that the Chomsky narrative by not being a complete story, that is Chomsky not including his review of the evidence concerning the assassinations of the 1960s of JFK, MLK, RFK etc. in his general narrative and today not focusing his great analytical mind toward 911 has hurt the movements toward democracy.

I realize that this kind of criticism of the great man must seem outrageous to Chomsky's more zealous followers but to ban my writing entirely from the NYC Indymedia newswire is neo-fascist by action and by the fact that it is a secret policy. By not coming out and saying why NYC Indymedia has totally banned me from publishing is further evidence that there is cabal of arrogance festering there that should be lanced before it is allowed to create further divisions in the movements toward democracy.

I am absolutely sure that Noam Chomsky is a mature enough individual to be able to handle a little criticism without the help of the neo-fascist zealots who seem to be nesting at NYC Indymedia. I am a huge fan of Noam Chomsky's and have nothing but the greatest respect for his work. I have learned a great deal from him over the years but he has his faults which all of us do, including myself. I call myself an idiot regularly.

I have to say I am not the only one out here in the arena of the banned. I find it interesting that NYC Indymedia milks the memory of Brad Will ad nausium but in fact NYC Indymedia banned Brad and his friends as well as many others from NYC Indymedia and its premises when Amy Goodman sent in her troops to recreate NYC Indymedia in a very undemocratic process as an arm of her T.V. and radio program Democracy Now.

When NYC Indymedia begins to totally ban individual writers from the open publishing newswire it is time to swap out the undemocratic forces that have entrenched themselves in that organization. Remember folks, these Indymedia publishing outlets are non-profit democratic organizations that must operate in the open and in the bright light of day.

Banning a writer for writing constructive criticism of another writer can only have the chilling effect of serving those neo-fascist elements in our society that NYC Indymedia and the greater Indymedia network were set up to counter. Let us not resort to the tactics of our enemies who would censor us the first chance they got. Surely we can maintain democratic practices in our own institutions here on the supposed enlightened left wing of the political spectrum.

So I say - Democracy Now! Democracy Now! Democracy Now!

Banned

by antihart Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at 7:03 PM

You were banned because you lied about the great chomsky. You stated that chomsky had ripped you off, stolen your work. That was an absolute lie and you knew it when you wrote it. You are also a racist and should be banned from all indy sites until you stop writing racist drivel. Now quit spamming all the sites that still let you post your shit. Just go away little racist man.

Democracy in 2007?

by Jayster Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at 9:33 PM

I can't see where Chomsky has any real effect on the politics in today's Washington. He has absolutely no dampening effect on the increasingly fascist agenda of the Bush Regime.Noam's 911 thoughts, even if they were pro "inside job" theory, are also irrelevant.

Many indymedia sites delete posts that they personally don't like.If its a pro "illegal immigrant" site then they won't publish any anti "illegal immigrant" posts - just like any pro zionist indymedia sites are not going to allow any anti zionist posts.Democracy? Not on your life!

to save our IMC
your chance to pay back

please send your money now

For several years, San Francisco IMC has had all kinds of problems and organizational setbacks. Our problems have come fromspending our donations on needed items, from within our own organization, and from people abusing IMC process for their own benefit (charging Lapdances on their IMC visa cards). Part of the problem is that SF-IMC does a lot of work for the global Indymedia network at large. Many of us are also involved in Linefeed and SFCCP and we maintain & support Indymedia's in Argentina, Turkey, Chile, Houston, and on and on. and you don't pay us for these services.

This year, in particular, was hard for us. Just as we were internally ready to launch a whole new SF-IMC that we believe would revolutionize the way IMC's are used, there was an enormous server crisis. It was announced that Pongo.org was going to stop hosting IMC sites. And it was announced that CCCP has over charged our network, where many IMC's were hosted, and was demanding more money or they would power us off. It fell on a small group of people to solve this crisis. To our credit, we founded a new non-profit, set up a new colocation facility, and now things are back to running smoothly for all the IMC's that were at risk. All of them, that is, except for San Francisco Indymedia. We were always that last ones to receive attention because we were working to help other IMC's first. this is where YOU come in!

SF-IMC "we can't wait any longer". At the same time, we are excited about the imc-cms project that we helped initiate "ASK Nessie". We have decided that we will help ourselves to some of the profits of the other IMC's that we so graciously saved. in the form of our Save San Francisco IMC campaign. We are offering ourselves up as an example of how ALL you should be running YOUR IMC. So, during November and December of 2007, we're going to help evaluate your programming. . This gives us the ability to have our articles available to you at a small fee, to get people involved locally, to start working as an IMC again, while at the same time moving along the sfimc management project.

And we are looking for people to help Save San Francisco IMC! You don't need to be from here to help! A lot of the work can be done remotely. We are making this announcement at the final meeting of Techmeet 2007. We have sacrificed our own local IMC in order to help keep the global network alive and now we're asking for a little something back :) Plans are underway and we'd want to have you involved. To get involved, e-mail ryan from linefeed.org or find ryan in #sfkids on irc.indymedia.org and we'll get you involved. all donations will be taken

please repost far and wide!

imc censors and leftist junta

by censorship; last resort of cowards Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at 3:27 PM

Am increasingly disgruntled with the tendency of imc editors to censor anything that offends their leftist junta. For example another imc (philly) site censored a comment to an article that attempted to slander Ron Paul by comparing him to a neo-Nazi because he unknowlingly accepted donations from a neo-Nazi organizer. This (neo-Nazi) is one of the worst insults you can label somebody today, and a comment that defended Ron Paul was deleted for unknown reasons..

If accused of being a neo-Nazi, is it then 'racist' to object to said accusation? Sounds like even defending the accussed is now "racist' in the eyes of philly imc editors. However, the racist policies of WTO/NAFTA go unchallenged on philly imc, even through Ron Paul leads the call for the repeal of NAFTA, echoed by Dennis Kucinich in the Democrats. Now even Dennis is being discredited as a UFO-ologist, and Ron Paul will forever be tainted by accusation of being a neo-Nazi sympathizer. Such is the burden worn by truthtellers..

Personally the government of so-called "Holocaust denier" Mahmoud Ahmadinijad of Iran is appearing more democratic than the slanderous confusion in the U.S. of right "Nazis" vs. leftist "juntas" all censoring one another's opinions if they veer to far from the mainstream path of the safe moderates. Or should we say globalists??

Have found the so-called progressive activism of the U.S. to be disappointing. Perhaps my mind isn't nearly open enough to accept the new ideals of the progressive left, though i feel it is more a lack of consistency from the left than anything else. Are we "pro-immigrant" if we endorse the "right to work" in the U.S. at the expense of indigenous cultural sovereignty in Mexico? Is effective critique of WTO/NAFTA "pro" or "anti" immigrant, or neither???

Maybe the path of Johnny "Taliban" Walker Lindh wasn't so outrageous after all, only i would prefer to join up with the Shia cleric Moqtada Al-Sadr instead, as i believe that Al-Queda (Taliban) are too easily influenced by CIA opertives even today. So far only Moqtada Al-Sadr has shown the willingness to put aside differences between Muslims and refocus their actions on the occupational U.S. forces in Iraq. For this effort at unification of Muslims i support Moqtada Al-Sadr, NOT for the death squads, mysogyny, homophobia and religious fundamentalism. What if the Mahdi army focused their actions on the U.S. controlled petroleum infrastructure, an obvious financial investment of the U.S. occupation??

"Moqtada al-Sadr, the rebel Shia Muslim cleric opposed to the occupation of Iraq, has called on all resistance organisations to unite and drive out foreign troops.

Sadr, who was targeted by the US during its “surge” of troops into Iraq, told his supporters in Kufa on Friday of last week, “We demand the withdrawal of the occupation forces, or the creation of a timetable for such a withdrawal.

“I call upon the Iraqi government not to extend the occupation, even for a single day.”

Then there's Hamas and Hezbollah, and these folks are good as gold in my book of ethics and effectiveness. Hezbollah reminds me of a Lebanese version of the Black Panthers, educating the youth in the neighborhoods and fighting off Israeli military incursions. Words are sometimes the only viable means for me to express my admiration for Hezbollah, as anything else would be a risk for my physical being. It would be nice to know that my words will not be removed if i draw straws and get the most easily offended imc editor who is phobic of any pro-Hezbollah comments. Peace be with you all..
