At this show we learned from the MC about how some rock bands were actually supported by the Mexican PRI party during the 60s and 70s, those bands that didn't get too explicit with their politics and weren't linked to the student movement that was so violently repressed in 68. Kind of like the Monkees here in the US, or something... the state and media tried to support the saleable aspects of rock while cracking down on truly revolutionary activity. Girl in a Coma, we'd like to think, would be tied to the revolutionaries, not to the fake fronts. no matter what their music kicks ass.
