San Fernando Valley City Council passes Bush Impeachment Resolution with unanimous vote

The San Fernando Valley City Council passed an impeachment resolution for President Bush with a unanimous vote on August 20, 2007.

Monday is for Impeachment @ San Fernando Valley City Council

The San Fernando Valley City Council passed an impeachment resolution for President Bush with a unanimous vote on August 20, 2007. San Fernando Valley became the 87th city or township in the nation to pass a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush, following similar actions in Michigan, Ohio and Vermont as well as seven cities throughout California, including the City and County of San Francisco Board of Supervisors and Berkeley.

The San Fernando City Council plans on delivering the city’s resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush to Congressman Brad Sherman. Congressman Sherman (Dem 27th District) is a member of the House Judiciary Committee the body in Congress that would investigate the impeachment charges. The San Fernando Valley City Council is hopeful that Congressman Sherman will take the presentation of San Fernando City’s impeachment resolution as an indicator of the drumbeat in his district for impeachment proceedings to start in Congress.

The idea was introduced to San Fernando Valley officials by Eugene Hernandez, a concerned citizen from the valley and a member of the Los Angeles National Impeachment Center – SFV Chapter (LANIC-SFV Chapter). Mr. Hernandez said the San Fernando Valley impeachment resolution signals a victory for his group, as SFV is the second Southern California city to adopt an impeachment resolution.

At the Monday night San Fernando Valley City Council meeting eleven members of the LANIC-SFV group presented to the City Council evidence of impeachable offenses committed by President Bush. The Los Angeles National Impeachment Center – SFV Chapter is actively working with the Studio City Council to pass an impeachment resolution.

For the record, the city is called the City of San Fernando.

The City of San Fernando is a smallish city (25,000 people) within the much larger geographic area of the San Fernando Valley (almost two million people). Most of the rest of The Valley is part of the City of Los Angeles.
