US-Arroyo’s Double Talk: Talking Peace, Waging War

Los Angeles-- The Alliance for A Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP) –USA express its serious and deep concern over the ongoing war in Mindanao the Philippine armed forces in Basilan and Sulu is waging that have claimed more than 100 lives in three separate clashes since the second week of July.

The AJLPP condemned the lack of sincerity on the part of the US-Arroyo regime in pursuing the peace negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). It has increased the militarization of the area, deployed more troops and evacuated tens of thousands of Bangsa Moro people into “ government controlled zones.”

The AJLPP also condemned the brazen puppetry of the US-Arroyor regime by letting the active participation of US Special Forces operatives in the AFP operations in Mindanao. The Agance France Press(AFP) took footages and pictures of US Special forces leading the Philippine military in their operations in the island of Sulu.

It bring backs the days of US military leading Philippine Constabulary scouts against the Muslims in Sulu during the Pacification campaign led by US generals John Pershing and Leonard Wood when the US forces colonial forces occupied the Philippines during the last century.

Arroyo’s Doubletalk

While professing to be interested in the resumption of the negotiations with the MILF in Malaysia and the MNLF talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this August, the Philippine government launched punitive military operations against the bandit group- Abu Sayaff Group (ASG) implicating both the MILF and the MNLF as ‘conducting joint operations against the AFP troops in Basilan and Sulu and other parts of Mindanao.”

While talking about peace and negotiations in the diplomatic circles, it conduct psywar and “legal offensives” against the ASG-MNLF and MILF triumvirate” in Mindanao.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is trying to act like Marcos and Estrada and ingratiate herself to the Americans by being active in the US-sponsored and led “War on Terror”.

By focusing in Mindanao, the fascist puppet is paving the way of opening up Mindanao’s rich mineral and forest resources to the US imperialist corporations while trying to quell the people’s resistance against foreign intervention.

The AJLLP always support the Bangsa Moro people’s aspiration for genuine regional autonomy under a sovereign nation and respects it rights for self-determination and right of secession under a fascist dispensation. It will always support the MILF’s desire for peace based on justice and genuine self determination for the Bangsa Moro people.
