NEW INFORMATION!

AT THE SITE: The site is situated in The Charity Valley of The Toiyabe National Forest at about 8000 ft. in elevation. We will be camping in a dry forest on the edge of a lush meadow with a small creek running through it located about 4 ? miles from Blue Lakes. The site is a drive-in site so you won?t be hiking in. Personal fires will be absolutely restricted. There will be an info shop with various distros, a kitchen area, plenty of choice camping and workshop areas, a designated shitter and a designated main space to minimize impact on this region.

WORKSHOPS: Some of the workshops that will be provided are: Friction Fire, Buckskin Hide Tanning, Cordage Making, Flint Knapping (we have obsidian for a pit and very basic knowledge, but if anyone out there can help teach this please do, oh, and bring leather gloves), Various Baskets, there will be an Atlatl/Archery Range (if you have either, bring them), Shelters, Oil/Fat Lamps, Fingerweaving, Natural Birth Control, Herbal Preparations, Plant Walks, Hobo/Rocket Stoves, D.I.Y. Mental Health, Knots, Basic Wilderness First Aid, and Skinning Workshops if some roadkill or otherwise obtained animals are provided.

Some of the potential workshops which we are hoping to see but have not been given confirmation are: Tin Smithing, Reconnecting Workshop, Traps and Snares, Self-Defense/Martial Arts, D.I.Y. Bike Repair, and the list could go on, if you have any skills and knowledge and wouldn?t mind teaching them to others feel free to offer a class or two while you?re there. There will also be numerous discussions such as, Green Anarchy 101, Community Building, Resistance, Rewilding, Women?s issues, etc. which will be posted on the daily schedule. We are also expecting spontaneous workshops and discussions to take place throughout the event.

WHAT TO BRING: Toilet paper (we will NOT be supplying T.P. so you need to bring your own if sticks, rocks and leaves aren?t your thing). THERE WILL BE FIRE RESTRICTIONS. If you see any road kill on the way please pick it up. Bring musical instruments, propaganda, friends and family, respect, security consciousness, special skills and knowledge, and an enthusiastic and participatory attitude!

FOOD: Some of the dinners you will be eating include: Spaghetti, Tacos, Soups, Chili, and we want to leave some room for surprises and creativity. Some of the Breakfasts include: Biscuits and Gravy, Cereal, everyone?s favorite Oatmeal, Banana Bread and some fresh fruit. We will be catering to vegans and veggies. Bring your own lunch and snacks. And while we are on the subject of food, more food is always better at these gatherings so if ya?ll could go through your houses and donate your unwanted food or hit up the parents or grandparents for some food donation money or do some dumpster digging and pick up road kill along the way, well, that would just be great and very appreciated.

For more information: Send email to feralvisions2007 [at] hotmail.com. NOTE: We will stop checking e-mail on July 25th.

[GA Note: Do not send email to the collective looking for information about the Feral Vision event. We do not have any information other than what is posted here. GA is not part of organizing this event and we do not sponsor this event. We host this Feral Visions page as a courtesy to the organizers, who change every year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come gather in the wild beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range of Central/Northern California! This gathering is for all who desire to engage in rewilding: physically and mentally, discussions on self-reliance, spirituality, resistance, community building, and of course anti-civilization theory. Expect to see skill sharing and knowledge of ancestral life ways, primitive/earth based skills, urban primitive/practical skills, D.I.Y./self sufficiency skills, mental and physical health, self defense, wild edible and medicinal plants, industrial collapse and anything else your wild and defiant imagination can conceive!

As we gather in wilderness, our goal is to help break down mediation between ourselves and our world, empower each other, make stronger connections with one another and our earth, and apply our dreams and visions to our lives. This event is centered on active participation and is only as fruitful as what each of us bring of our knowledge and experience as well as a desire to learn. This gathering is FREE to all. Some food will be provided (at least 2 meals a day) but for the most part be prepared to be relatively self-sufficient.

WHAT TO BRING:

Bring what you need (depending on your level of domestication), including several layers of warm clothes (it's high elevation, so it can get cold at night), swim clothes, rain gear, personal eating utensils and bowls, knife, money for distros and things, goods for the trading blanket, sleeping bag or blankets, tents or tarps, flashlight, water filter, toilet paper, snacks and lunch for yourself, water containers, small cook stoves and fuel for personal meals. THERE MAY BE FIRE RESTRICTIONS. Bring musical instruments, propaganda, friends and family, respect, security consciousness, special skills and knowledge, and an enthusiastic and participatory attitude!

THINGS WE NEED:

We are looking for: bulk food (rice, grains, beans, spices, dried foods, veggies, roots, etc.). Large cooking utensils (stock pots, pans, knives, 5-gal. lidded buckets, large water jugs, garbage bags, propane stoves and fuel, material for latrines and their upkeep (shovels, wood ash, buckets, T.P., soap, etc.), tarps and ropes for communal kitchen, instructors to give more formal discussion workshops and specific skills and FINANCIAL DONATIONS! This one is important. It takes a lot of energy, time and money to put on a gathering of this scale; we have a lot of time and energy, but not a lot of money. So, if you can donate, or put together benefits, please do so as it would be much appreciated.

WHAT TO LEAVE HOME:

You'll be hiking in, so minimize your possessions you want to carry. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DOGS AT HOME. Please leave weapons, heavy drugs, recording devices (including cameras and video cameras) at home as well. Abusers and abusive behaviors will not be tolerated at this gathering. Come to participate, not to drain. This event is for all of us to participate in, not just those who initiated the call.

AT THE SITE:

The site is at a high elevation so it's cold at night, warm, even hot, during the day. It is a wild place and needs to be treated with care and respect. We want to create as little impact to the site as possible. There will be a designated kitchen, latrines, workshops and camping areas. It will also be at the height of fire season, with possible fire closure, so extra care will be necessary (possibly including no personal fires and extreme caution when smoking). Please pack out everything you bring in.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

We want to keep the schedule open for spontaneous eruption, but will have a daily formal schedule presented each morning. We expect lots of folks with certain skills and knowledge to be present, so we want to be flexible. We hope informal discussions and skill-shares will naturally occur. We do recognize, however, that some folks will not be present for the entire event, and that with large numbers of people, some informal structure can help. We have decided to propose loose themes for each day, both on the theoretical and practical level. These are suggested general orientations. There will be a morning circle and info boards to let folks know what discussions and skill-shares will be happening.
